I was in the military for 7 years and the most fit guy I ever saw at the gym was only raw deadlifting 315. I have seen big guys but that dude was was pretty big and shredded. probably 215 at 6'1"

Deadlifts are a fucking meme. I used to do it when I was younger because it was good for my ego. Now I see it for the pointless exercise it is. The biggest guys in any gym (natty or otherwise) never deadlift. You only see frumpy looking powerfatters with knee sleeves, straps, and belts around their guts strutting around like their 3 rep 3 pl8 deadlift is amazing.

Doing raw deadlifts with good form and lots of volume will give you a great upper back and decent forearms.

Now I pull as quickly as I can for power, and stick to like 275 double overhand to grip failure, lower weight to 225 and rep until grip failure again.

Yeah, and you know what else requires a strong lower back and core? Literally all other compound exercises. Squat, bench, OHP, row, and whatever else. Deadlifts are important because you need a strong foundation in order to not get bottlenecked on everything else.

Doing any lift past the point where you can use proper form is a meme. It's counterproductive and the only thing you accomplish is being able to move slightly more weight. Think of the weight as a tool rather than a challenge, unless you want to be a powerlifter but i think that shit is retarded.

What are your training goals? Training to have an aesthetic physique is a little different from training to be the biggest and strongest man on earth(powerlifters like the guy on the vid).
Getting those 500kg deadlifts take a lot of toll on your body, but true powerlifters understand those risks and take it anyway. If you're not trying to be a powerlifter, why break your back? It's important to be patient and not do weights where you need to sacrifice too much form, or beware of the consequences. Alsom ver heard of diminishing returns? 1 rep exercises aren't as effective as 4-6 reps in the long term.
So don't be stupid, comparing a professional powerlifter's form to the ones for aesthetics and general health.

i'm not going to say deadlifts are a meme, but i never deadlifted my first year of lifting. I was at a 260lbs squat for reps and i deadlifted 315 my first time doing it pretty easily. I do deadlifts now but i wouldn't say beginners really need them, and deadlifting more weight than you can do with good form, like a flat back, is retarded. Lower the weight and actually hit the muscles you are trying to hit.

Deadlifting makes me feel powerful, like a big man. None of the other lifts make me feel as good, and I'm not gay enough to touch a machine.
