Alright, since this is a fast thread now, help me out brothers. I want to get autophogy working, but I watched some youtube vids and everything is forcing me to go into keto mode. I KNOW for sure I wont be able to keep keto diet nor do I want to.. I am doing IF, does this shit do anything for autophogy or I need to work to extendet fasts? fuck keto.

I've experimented with fasting for 3 years now.
long story short, I developed an eating disorder and lost 10kg of weight while I was already skinny tier to begin with. I actually deluded myself into believing I felt great while fasting, and the first few months, yes, indeed I did feel great on it. after about a year though I had lost so much muscle and weight, fat. I was a shell of my former self and kept deluding myself that I felt great.
It even got to a point where it started affecting my work and mood, together with weedo. made me quit my job ( don't regret that cause I got something better coming soon now ) anyway.
I stopped fasting during my time at home. I eat an hour or two after waking. I eat whenever I'm hungry now like it's intended. I still plan to do a 2 day fast every few months but I wont make it something daily. if you aren't fat that's just retarded.
I ate normal meals not even big, ate raw milk and meats. I gained 10kg back in 5 months of being home. I'm so happy now. I don't even force feed myself. Just eat quality fatty animal products and I'm becoming very strong and feelinig very good.
just my two cents. Fasting is not interesting if you aren't a huge fatty.

No, you don't need keto. And no, 16/8 IF wont trigger autophagy to high enough levels.
What you should do instead is just fast for an entire day plus those 16 hours once every week. Fasting below 30 hours is pointless for autophagy and fasting above 40 hours has an equivalent effect to just 40 hours - between 30 and 40 is the sweet spot
Keto doesn't really do a lot for autophagy in the places it most matters.
Go for a 3 - 7 day tea fast and do a chamomile or coffe enema 2- 3 times during that time.
Should get you pretty good results.

Just completed my first year of it.Might want to rethink your meals if you feel like puking. Also it is technically possible to gain weight even when doing fasting. If you fast for one day and then the next eat three days worth of calories then you’ll gain weight.

I fasted for 10 days last year as an experiment and it worked out really well. I also didn't develop an eating disorder and kept the weight off without feeling hungry or counting calories afterwards.

not the user you are talking to but I fast 18 hrs a day usually and I can eat as much as I want. I usually throw in a 48 hour fast on the weekends as well to coincide with rest days and it works just fine. I'm staying at 11% bf while still puttin on weight.

I do personally notice a difference when I fast. Right now i am 5'11 185 but about a month ago i was around 195. Granted ive only been doing a few intermittent fasts but I've seen that they work and i want to drop another ten pounds so i will try and take some pics before and after. I dont think you lose more fat. If you do it's a tiny amount and not worth it for that. I did it for supposed health benefits. I had swollen lymph nodes under my chin from a bad infection from 6 years ago that have not gone down at all, and doctors said they would never go down.
During those 2 days of dry fasting they went down to about 40% size. I'm planning to do another 2-3 day dry fast soon to see if it can get rid of all the swelling, but it's mostly gone.

Bullshit. Fasting is no harder than other cutting diets. You have to tough it out for about half a day and then you just stop feeling hungry. Calorie and macro counting is actually harder in my opinion. Constant temptation and having to stop just when your body starts to enjoy the food.
