Coffee increases cortisol which is a catabolic hormone. Cortisol decreases testosterone levels in the blood.

I've never understood the coffee addiction thing. Do people really get addicted to coffee?

I think drug withdrawal really varies from person to person. I quit alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine easily, but for many people it seems to be harder. Done cocaine, speed and a bunch of other stuff without getting addicted too.

Whether or not you suffer these side effects or receive benefits from caffeine will likely come down to how quickly you metabolize caffeine aka genetics.

I'm pretty sure that if you can't afford genetic testing (probably something like getting whole genome sequencing done) then you could just listen to your body and how you feel. I'm a slow metabolizer and I started to notice some pretty serious problems from drinking coffee. Since quitting I haven't felt better in years. I feel like a kid again.
