Everyone on Jow Forums should read Notes from the Underground at least once.
Here’s my current reading list
Who here /his/
I am trying to read civil war by Lucan, but I find the epic poem format difficult to understand. Do you have any advice on understanding ancient lit or should I stop being a brainlet?
If you haven’t read the Iliad or the Odyssey, stop what you’re doing now and go get those. If you can only read one, read the Lattimore edition of The Iliad. Quite literally all Greco-Roman poetry is derived from Homer, and the Lattimore edition is useful because it goes into such detail, and it’ll train you to understand the work better.
If Lucan is your first primary source on the period, it might be better if you start with someone a bit easier. The Landmark Caesar is a highly annotated and detailed version of the Commentaries by Julius Caesar, and they’re extremely useful for helping people (including me) understand the work better. It includes essays, maps, pictures etc to elucidate the meaning.
If you want good non primary sources to get fresh with the period, check out Adrian Goldsworthy’s “Caesar” and/or Tom Holland’s “Rubicon”.
Dont worry user, I’ve been studying history for 6 years and it took me some time to get a better understanding, and now that I run an ancient history podcast, it has developed my skills even further
Currently reading "The Aeneid". An English major primarily, but been enjoying Greek/Roman stuff a ton recently.
Based and Redpilled
The Lattimore translation of the illad really taught me how to better understand Greco-Roman literature and made me enjoy it a lot more
I prefer this version
read it as Homo Desu
Pretty gey Jow Forums

I have a kindle too, and it's really useful for cheap books and pdf's and the like. Don't come to me like a cunt claiming that an e-reader is anywhere comparable to the feel of a paperback book.
just finished shogun, started reading gai-jin
the hate in this book really makes you wanna lift for the führer

Call of the Wild by Jack London is legit /fitlit/
Based and blackpilled
This is a fundamentally terrible book for reasons that have nothing to do with politics. Do not ever read it.
based frederik bastiat poster
Why?
I'd have a hard time reading a book written by a jew. I'd be hypercritical of everything in it.
it is not very opinionated
Sapiens is truly diabolical.
I have not read that one. What is wrong with it?
Your instincts are correct.
The book is distilled kikery.
Fucking loved this book.
This book is jewish nightmare fuel
Really? I read the first half and it was pretty objective. Too lazy to finish
Reminder that Rand was a welfare queen. Even that sandy bag didn't practice her retarded ideas.
fuck off Casey
Buck is a total chad of a dog
Exactly how I felt reading Sapiens. I stuck through to the end, but man was it obvious the guy was Jewish. It was almost like he couldn't control himself, where everything would be normal until there were a few paragraphs about Islamic immigration into the West being a good thing or how race doesn't exist, and then back to normal again.
Nations do not exist, religion is objectively a myth, globalism is best, we are all Africans and immigrants, no such thing as race, etc
MLK was a pervy bisexual that had degenerate orgies. He also plagiarized his thesis. Still had a few good ideas that inspired.
Any good books from boxers?
>Yuval Noah Harari
I'm going to assume it's bullshit propaganda based purely on that fucking name
only retards who dont read recommend this
It is true in an objective sense, as all of our feuding and disputes take place entirely in our minds.
However it only could possibly work if every single group on Earth believes it, and of course it's hard to be optimistic about that happening. More likely case is that one particularly savage group will just kill everyone else.
Man's search for meaning by Viktor Franklin
Based. More men should read this, not to follow his advice fully but as food for thought- really helpful to guys with different mindsets.
This.
based and stoicpilled, patrician taste my man
I'm reading the doom city right now and im amazed that it got published in the Soviet union basically a middle finger to the government
The doomed city *
>Jow Forums is screeeeching about how Jewish the book is

I tried reading his 21 Lessons for the 21st century and I ragequit at some point.
Mein Kampf is a poorly written, shitty book. It's essentially a long rant.
All philosophy is basically a long rant, especially Nietzsche and Schopenhauer.
mein kampf isn't philosophy
>Mfw get called edgy for calling Mein Kampf a bland dry book.
According to you
just because it contains ideology doesn't make it philosophy. if you want to explain why you think it is philosophy you are welcome to.
It's called autobiography and not philosophy dumb nigger.
Ironically that tellse lot more about you than about that book. And it makes me want to read it.
Never read it, just like ironic nazi-posting.
>I was only pretending to be retarded!
you’ll be back once you’ve digested the (((/pol)))-sanctioned response to that particular criticism
>books
I'm reading this at the moment user, maybe try 'A short history of nearly everything', it's good for light reading.
Checked and cucked
I will look into it, Lord of Flies just came in with the mail, seems like an easy read, has anyone read that ?
:DDDd
I couldn't read it to the end, it's a complete garbage book. He makes a very bold assumption (the usual modern materialism, nihilism and moral relativism), and bases everything on it without even entertaining an alternative. It's very one-sided and dogmatic.
Reading books is simply the safety net used to brainwash people who think themselves too smart for the baby tier nets such as television and such.
Lately, i read Roadside Picnic and after that i read Letters from a Stoic.
Currently I'm reading pic related. Genuinely fun read.
Totally a nihilist allegory. Buck becomes the Ubermensch dog king.
How pathetic
I'm busy reading Hyperion 2.
Nazi stuff is just funny.
american objectivism is stupid. read stirner.
I have the audio book, it's definately one of the most influential book I ever read (were read to). I have not read the prequel tho.
I feel like it renders obsolete and moot a lot of other books frequently posted on fit.
I particularly like the chapters on free will, a subject being explored in the recent chapters of "attack on Titans".
this but unironically

Required /fitlit/ reading material
Kolyma Tales by Varlam Shalamov
>Shalamov was born in 1907 and was arrested in 1929 while he was a student at Moscow University for attempting to publish Lenin's Testament. He was sentenced to three years in Vishera, a satellite of the extensive labour camp system centered on a former monastery on Solovki. He was arrested again in 1937 and sentenced to five years in Kolyma, northeastern Siberia. His sentence was extended in 1942 until the end of the war and then in 1943 he was sentenced to another 10 years for describing Ivan Bunin as a great Russian writer. In total Shalamov spent around 17 years in the camps.
It's basically a collection of second and first-hand accounts about life inside the gulag system. It's utterly fucking savage. Blackest of pills.
read it for a grade 9 english assignment. Pretty okay, not especially outstanding imo
I might read Plutarco's and Ciceron's books.
