Back curvature during heavy deadlifts

I get tensing your lats in theory and I can do it in lighter lifts but as soon as I hit PR weight it just all goes to shit. What form tips can any of you recommend to keep from curving over?

Have someone film you while you're doing it. I have a tendency to curve on the way down because I let my chest sink

I think I do keep my head up, I don't know about chest but I'll give it a shot

I'm having the same problem OP. Weak spinal erectors when compared to hip extensors and legs. Front squat it's probably the best exercise to help with this

As Mike tuscherer said, treat you straight and rounded back deadlifts as two separate movements when it comes to weights. Set a training max on straight back deadlift that you can hit anyday and work from there. Do more rdls and upper back work. As for cues, check 5 steps for deadlift video from Alan Thrall (really good) and common deadlift mistakes from same guy.

If you’re curving your back, you’re too weak for the weight, simple as that.
You’re not cheating or anything, you’re just being stupid.

This, just call it your PR* with improper form. Keep doing it and you won't be setting any more PR's anytime soon

it's not a PR if your form is perfect.

that doesn't mean it's smart to do lifts with bad form. just do lighter weights with good form and eat at a surplus and you'll be fine.

sound like you are either using too much weight, not contracting your core and glutes as much as you should and or that you have a weak core, try deloading, contract your core more and work you core directly

If you can't get the correct posture forget about heavy deadlifts. Use less weight.
If you fuck up your back you'll regret all your life. It's definitely not worth.

Getting it off the ground means nothing if your form is nowhere close to acceptable.
