>179 cm >95 kg (haven't checked in a little while, so it's more of a rough estimate) >Basically never consistently got off my ass in my entire life (went to a gym for a little while, but without actual commitment, once every few days) >Skinnyfat as fuck
Given that getting a gym membership is currently not an option (I don't want to feel like shit in public, at least until I look a bit more presentable [yes, I'm insecure]), what would be my best bet for exercising in this situation? Free time is pretty much not a problem right now.
Every day you waste trying to get jacked doing push-ups in your room is a day you will regret the fuck out of when you finally get into the gym and see how much easier it is
Not wanting to go to the gym because you're intimidated is normal and everyone feels this way but actually not going for this reason is chick shit
Camden Cox
And unless you're on some ungodly lack of discipline there is no reason to see a "dietist"
Do keto, eat one meal a day, never go shopping unless you've eaten beforehand and just don't buy shitty foods because you WILL binge on them
Nobody cares if you look like shit or act retarded in the gym as long as your behavior doesn't unnecessarily inconvenience others

Yeah, I already was under the impression that a gym would be easier (what with trainers making exercise programs and all), but the intimidation really gets to me. What can I do to mitigate it?
Andrew Collins
In terms of diet the end goal is to be eating almost exclusively meat, fish, veggies, berries, eggs and limited amounts of tree nuts
The first thing to cut out is dairy, it'll improve digestion and de-bloat you noticeably
Straight sugar should obviously always be avoided, and fructose specifically is the Jason blaha of monosaccharides. Search "fructose glucose adipose/visceral/fat/metabolism" in a research database to see some studies on why it's shit, or just trust me. But yeah, fruits are not actually that healthy, fiber mitigates the insulin response to an e tent but if there's a lot of fat in your bloodstream (which there will be on keto) then the last thing you want is fructose shots
Gluten increases intestinal porosity even in people without celiac's, allowing undigested food into the bloodstream and causing inflammation (and symptoms of autism, hilariously)
It's hard to change a bunch of things at once so just try and incorporate one change at a time until you're eating well
Do a full body beginner routine, the actual routine matters much less than the fact that you consistently lift and diet, and don't increase calories rabidly in an attempt to up your lifts quickly, you will regret it
You don't really need a trainer desu, you will be much better off long term if you figure stuff out for yourself. If you have questions generally you can just ask a big guy politely
If you need to mitigate the insecurity, just look around the gym Notice how nobody is looking at you, they're all doing their own shit
It's a gym, people go there to make themselves not be hideous. I guarantee no matter what you look like you aren't the worst looking person there

And if it's really really bad just ask a friend who goes, or bully one who doesn't into going with you. There are a ton of other people out there who are just too scared to go on their own, but will go with someone else if they hold them accountable

>you will be much better off long term if you figure stuff out for yourself I guess so, but I think I'd want someone to show me the ropes at the beginning. I mean, I don't know how much stuff I could figure out by myself, knowing next to nothing of exercises.
Nicholas Sullivan
I was like this, I felt like a bumbling idiot for the first times but now I feel comfortable also lurking fit is one of the biggest pluses unironically
also for every exercise you want to try, see the athlean-X video about it, that guy is the most legit youtube fitness trainer

run 3 times a week for 20 min, add some calisthenics if you want to (remember to pull as much as you push). every two weeks add 5 minutes to your running sessions. if you can't bear with that, go back to 20 minutes. i'd say try to get to 30 minutes of running and instead of adding more minutes, run faster (it should happen without you noticing it), but you do what you want to. in my experience, sticking to 30 min and running with better form and speed felt better than going for long runs
>or just trust me. But yeah, fruits are not actually that healthy Not OP, but interested. Been eating an apple and a banana a day. How many servings of fruit per week are optimal? What about Vitamins in fruits? Am I gonna get pirate teeth?
Nobody cares how you look, just go to the fucking gym.

>What can I do to mitigate it? Just go to the gym and you will see that nobody actually cares. After that it gets easier every time. You need to conquer your fear and take this hurdle.
