>not drinking enough water has negative side effects
Who knew

Not that I support diet sodas or sodas in general but is it the diet soda causing that or is it the fact that fatties drink diet soda and they already are at high risk of stroke and heart attacks and a correlation not causation?

This is an observational study so there are absolutely lurking variables at play here. A lot of these studies are bogus, just follow the money.

>follow the (((money)))

Same as coffee. It's sugar free, not caffeine free.

it's a shit study . op delet

into the trash it goes
also if you pay for carbonated water with artificial sweeteners, you're throwing out your money

Compared to who? people who drink water and tea?

People who drink diet coke aren't exactly know for their other healthy diet choices.
People who mostly drink water are.

Epidemiological studies are such a fucking joke. Like holy shit there are a million of ways to get them wrong and you'd think these supposed smart and educated people would do a good job at not fucking up since that's what they payed 50k and 4+ years on learning.

With that said I only drink water and tea and so should you.

In other words, obese people drink diet soda

>fat fucks drink diet soda

>Like holy shit there are a million of ways to get them wrong and you'd think these supposed smart and educated people would do a good job at not fucking up since that's what they payed 50k and 4+ years on learning.
As I said before follow the money. These intellectuals are paid to draw certain conclusions while subtly ignoring the elephant in the room.
>.t Statistician/Data Scientist with a masters in stats

t. Big sugar
Fuck off

How?
There’s no saturated fat or cholesterol in diet soda.

This is not a controlled research, though. It doesn't account for the fact that most people who drink diet soda are people who tend to already be obese and unhealthy, which skews the data. Sugar is the Jew's plague. They'd never want Hamericans to switch to healthier alternatives to sugars.

this user gets it

this is like that study that says that meat causes cancer.

Shit study. Don't ever trust a study you find in a sensational news outlet

Also the people who drink diet soda tend to be fatties who "want" to lose weight but aren't willing to make real changes, soo.... yah i bet they have more heart attacks

>drinking gay coffee
never gonna make it

>These intellectuals are paid to draw certain conclusions while subtly ignoring the elephant in the room.
Most of them not even that, they're genuinly retarded. Other get paid for writing big papers. No matter if it's bullshit, as long as it gets published in Nature or other high impact journals, it's good reputation and these leeches get more grants funneled towards them.
Any academic field that even remotely touches medicine is automatically bullshit galore.
They can't even compute sample size for their study according to simple formula (which they don't even know how to choose, let alone derive). And people trust these retards with more complicated models than "mean of two populations". Hell, data fabrication is rampart here in yuropoor. All the big names do it, everyone knows, including in the industry - when i was interning in Ingelheim, coworker/mentor straight out told me to not waste time reading any research because most of it is irreproducible bullshit.

nothing's happening. I'm going to bump it to 4 a day.

>fat man drinks diet soda after saying thin people don't drink diet soda

What a twist.

>fat fucks drink diet coke
>fat fucks get heart attacks and die
>OMG DIET COKE CAUSES HEART ATTACKS
Top tier logic.

ive only drank water and milk for 1.5 years.

feels pretty good.

>chad drinks coke in a wine cup instead of ((((alcohol))))
Based.

That makes him 100% right in his statement, though.

This has already been btfo pretty hard, but I'll add that the FDA btfo all these bogus studies in the 80's when the 3 big non nutritive sweeteners were created, proved to have no appreciable negative affect on human health, and were approved for human consumption.

Basically, yeah.
I can't take a study done on fat people seriously without a fit control group. I could find a correlation between reading trashy romance novels and cardio vascular disease if I just look at fatties.

>drink at least two cans of coke zero a day

feels good man

regular soda does all kinds of bad shit too tho so this could just be "soda is bad"

I hope this doesn't apply to monsters, but I know those are bad too. I've been drinking the boomer ones like twice a week

t. boomer

energy drinks are a type of soda with extra caffeine and vitamins

>quantitative finance
Lucky guy, I'm the one you were responding to. My dream was always to get into high finance but it's so damn competitive.
I had my pick of the lot when it came to top insurance brokerages for actuarial and consulting firms but struggled to even get interviews at the big banks and trading firms.

Redpill me on the sips please I also drink them sometimes. Would like to know the truth to any adverse affects

It's always a shit study. Like when NPR posted a big headline "Vitamin D and Fish oil disappointing results!" then you have to scan halfway through the article to find it's talking about supplementation for preventing cancer which is not what you take those supplements for.

>This study, as well as other research on the connection between diet beverages and vascular disease, is observational and cannot show cause and effect. That's a major limitation, researchers say, as it's impossible to determine whether the association is due to a specific artificial sweetener, a type of beverage or another hidden health issue.

so it's nothing.

Drank a monster a day for 3 months and started to get inflammation in my testes. Stopped drinking caffeine altogether and after a week it was gone (that was the only change I made so I can safely assume it was the monster/caffeine).
A year and a half later I started daily monsters again for 6 months and got Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) which is incurable. Either drink them occasionally when you NEED them, or get out while you can.

these studies are always totally bullshit

for me it's oliet bang's. a refreshing taste with none of the harmful side effects of soda

Similar story.
I have a background in chemistry and worked in the pharmaceutical industry and realized what a shit storm it was and left. I went back to college and got a degree in actuarial science and work for a life insurance company. It's way more corrupt but I get paid better.

Meanwhile, literally millions of people drink these cans a day and you're the only retard with those 2 issues.

Considered ending your genetic line?

>Doing a study with fatties
>"Heart attack risk"
>Blame food

You realise if you just aren't fat you won't have any issues enjoying beverages like these right? It's literally the same with all foods, as long as you aren't fat you won't have issues.

I've heard it's bad in the US. As far as i know, here in yuropoor you have a good chance even if you're not from oxbridge.
And the theoretical physics degree will put me ahead of most applicants. But i'm really affraid those 2 wasted years will drag me down too much.
Yeah, it's the same everywhere, academia is rotten to the core. Might as well embrace it and make big money.

>>chad drinks coke in a wine cup instead of ((((alcohol))))
>Based.
cucks white people out of existence for israel

>based Donald "we need more legal migrants" Trump
your mind on Jow Forums

The study for this is fucking tragic, it has no control and doesn't even check for any other causes, this is the most correlation thing I've ever seen. If you drink diet, you likely also drink not diet but it doesn't even ask about it. Its also self reported. No control group, no anything. This was purely a shit I need to get funding for something study.

Methods—
The analytic cohort included 81 714 women from the Women’s Health Initiative Observational Study, a multicenter longitudinal study of the health of 93 676 postmenopausal women of ages 50 to 79 years at baseline who enrolled in 1993 to 1998. This prospective study had a mean follow-up time of 11.9 years (SD of 5.3 years.) Participants who completed a follow-up visit 3 years after baseline were included in the study.
