I lost a ton of weight...

I lost a ton of weight, went from 324lbs to 138lb and finally started eating my "maintenance" calories after years about two weeks ago. Since then, I've been at a pretty constant weight of 142lb. I am usually eating right at, if not slightly below what my maintenance says I should be eating. (2,270 calories)

I'm wondering if this is actual weight gain and I should be worried or if it's just my body adjusting to more food/carrying more food in me generally. It's a bit concerning to me and makes me want to go back to my diet calories. (1,700 -1,800 calories)

I also had plateaued pretty hard at 138lb with the diet caloric intake. I'm not sure what that might say.

whats your height?
assuming male
activity levels?
training type and amount per week?
we need more info than weight and calories

I'm 5'11", male
I'm lightly active (have a 7-5 job where I stand, walk, lift, generally stay active but not hard work)
I also don't generally exercise. I used to do a lot of cardio. But I haven't in months.

do you look lean? if not then try fasting or one meal of 2k cals every other day.

Well, I had elective surgery to get rid of loose skin so I look sorta like a combo of boney and skinny fat. Not very lean, probably

Dude I’m that same height. How the fuck did you get down to 138??? More importantly WHY!!??? That’s like full blown anorexic looking. I’m still trying to wrap my head around your weight fluctuation. That’s such a drastic difference, why didn’t you stop dieting at like 160-180?

Way to go user! I understand the hesitation to eat above maintenance. I went from 245 to 170 (I'm 5'10" so still slightly overweight). I'm eating my 170 maintenance while lifting so I can build muscle. It took me a while to start eating more. If you aren't working out consistently, then stay at or below maintenance. If you start hitting the gym more then you'll be safe with about 300 calories above. Just monitor and adjust daily. Good luck bro!

Well, it was a mix of what is/was an unhealthy obsession of trying to get to the lowest weight I could be because my friends who were shorter, admittedly, were around that. Also, trying to deal with excess skin at the time made me think I needed to be skinnier because I looked like I weighed 215 with all the skin, then post op weight loss and all.

Hey friend, really appreciate the positivity! I'm glad to hear you're on your way too, never give up! I guess I'm trying to just tell if my maintenance is accurate or if I'm gaining weight, which after 5 years of diet and exercise, I'm terrified to. I'm not sure if I'm overthinking this 4lb increase or if it's an early sign of something I need to manage.

it is time to eat at a maintenance, and even a slight surplus and gain some muscle, that will help you a lot
you need to train, being as skinny as you are is be better than being super fat, but you need to improve your health that another little bit,
some resistance training will help that

you are likely overthinking it

do more weight bearing exercises
weights in the main five movements, and some accessories, even just for general health, adopting those movement patterns is good for your health and will aid in gaining some muscle which will help in your lifelong journey to never be fat again (i went from 300 to 190 a couple years ago)
building up habits now to a healthy lifestyle is the next big step, but remember, you already made the hardest one, now it is a cruise

>I'm 5'11", male
>138lb
What the fuck, do you have any pics from that time? I don't even know how that's possible.

Really appreciate the advice, friend. Thank you.

None specifically from 138, but I have this comparison photo when I was about 140-145, if you're interested. Honestly don't think I look that skinny with my frame

No problem bruv. Rule of thumb, your weight can fluctuate 3-5 lbs throughout the day depending on water retention/what you eat/drink. I weigh myself every morning before I eat anything and it stays pretty consistent. Weigh yourself tonight and again tomorrow morning and you'll see what I mean. Again, staying active will give you more of a buffer. I know you probably know this stuff, but sometimes people just need reassurance.

Oh damn, that looks pretty nice. You could be a model. Not a fitness model, but for something gay like Hollister.

Once you put on 20 lbs of muscle eating at maintenance will become effortless and even hard because your body will need so many more calories

Yeah, but I still appreciate it. Been consistently at 142 the past week or so every morning has me worried is all

I'm 6' and work with a guy taller than me that is 140lbs, blows my mind that he can get anything done.

Hahaha. I wish. That pic is pretty flattering most likely. This is me a couple days ago, not able to see much, but might give a more accurate reference of my frame. I have wider hips, sadly.

I should put on more muscle, honestly. I know I lost a lot from doing a lot of crash dieting before

Show us the loose skin.

I got it removed, friend. It's rotting in a bin somewhere.

Hey, chill dude. You’ve done so well already, and you’ve shown the ability to control your weight and count calories.
Now it’s time to put on some muscle. Eat a little bit above maintenance and enjoy it.

138 lbs is not even underweight, BMI-wise. The guy is probably just a framelet with little muscle. Not sure why people are surprised.

Wow, crazy. How long did it take/what was your diet/regiment like?

No, it's probably being used to help burn victims have skin again.

Show us the scars, then.

Bro just weigh yourself once a week only, same time, same day, same routine (after shitting, before eating, whatever just make ot consistent). If your weight goes up, reduce by 100cal/day. Of it goes down, raise 100cal/day.

Don't overreact.

>regiment

Well, I started out really unhealthy and ate around 1,000cal a day, then would eventually move on to even 600 or less a day while walking. Eventually moved on to jogging, rucking with 35lb backpack, and sprinting. Started to up my calories some after I had a bad, bad back slide when I hit 215lb and shot back up to 270ish. Basically just was a vegetarian, which I doubt did much for me, for years, got into cardio, chronicled ever calorie I ate, went through stints of binging and purging, under eating, etc for forever. Then got on a consistent calorie deficit of -500ish per day and rode that out with little exercise.

Tl;dr - almost everything you shouldn't do

Yessir. Gonna try to, thank you very much. I mainly need to just get over being scared to gain a little weight and stop assuming every fluctuation is the beginning of a trend. I just am finally skinny for the first time in my life and I really would like to stay that way.

Not going to demand you show us pics like an asshole, but can you describe the downsides of the skin removal surgery if there are any? Are your nipples in the right spot? Do you have scars? Etc

Aw, I can only hope I helped someone by shedding that sag.

Sorry, my phone broke that I had pics on and I'm at work. If I can make it to the bathroom at some point to take a new pic for ya, I will.

Well, I had a bunch of complications that most likely won't happen to most people, but as far the results go --

The dude cut the area for my belly button sorta small, the scar is a bit lopsided but generally okay. It's darker sometimes and less noticeable others. My nipples sit a little low because I only got abdominoplasty and no chest work done, but they aren't horrible.

Generally I would say it's not amazing but leagues better than I was.
