>Jow Forums actually believes the body will use up food that is currently digesting as energy instead of stored glycogen
Work out fasted you fucking retards. What you ate an hour ago will still be digesting and will slow you down. Foods that are considered "good" preworkouts like a banana are only considered better than something like a steak because there's less to digest, so the body spends less energy digesting the banana. But you can just eat nothing and put all your energy into your excercises

This is honestly disgusting. Tried it once and almost puked.

Dark chocolate covered espresso beans

Black coffee and a banana is seriously the best pre-workout you could have. Hands down.

I put a banana (or half of one) in Fage yogurt. Comes out to 150 Cal and 20g protein with the banana for carbs/fiber. But I'm a /fat/ty trying to eat low cal with lots of protein.

This. Also don't take milk or whey before a workout. They are some of the hardest foods to digest and will hurt your perf.

A bit of syrup in your water bottle might give you a psychological help though.

That's retarded dude; having some complex carbs being actively digested during your workout will help with intra-workout energy, particularly if you're on a cut. I guess if you're already eating a massive daily surplus it might not matter. But you definitely can't lift as heavy for as long fasted.

there is nothing "natural" about modern bananas

Anyone else find it hard to know the right quantity of food to eat before the gym?

Either I eat nothing and get zapped of energy quickly OR eat too much and all my blood is concentrating in my GI system and I can't lift as much.

You're only partially right. You perform better when on a full stomach. What you ate doesn't matter too much, as long as you feel full, and you did not eat right before a workout. What matters the most is that you have eaten well the few days before.
