So I’ve been drinking soda pre and post workout for like 8 months now to spike my insulin levels, since I used to be fucking twiggo mode, is this a bad practice? I don’t feel anything negative, but diabetes is a concern I suppose.
Sodas for weight gain
Drink low fat milk instead, trade some of that sugar for protein
Processed sugar is really bad for you and completely contrary to fitness as you know. But if you’re not going to cut it from your diet to get the full benefits, then fuck it 2 sodas a day won’t kill you and certainly won’t cause diabetes.
This, it's not the end of the world drinking two a day. I drank 3 a day growing up and never fell out of healthy weight, had bad blood pressure or anything. It just turned my teeth slightly yellow I think.
I take whey and whole milk after as well
Yeah I grew up on it too, I was skinny fat for awhile then I started lifting, but at 6’3 145 I wasn’t making much progress, I can’t remember where but I read spiking your insulin after workout increases muscle synthesis, it certainly seemed to work for me, I’m 187 as of yesterday at around 20% bf
Not attributing it all to that though, I got more serious about a month in, and upped my caloric intake a lot.

I got skinny again at 14 but fuck me that was bullshit
I read about it too, might be broscience (it's mostly from articles on t-nation) but it doesn't hurt to have some oats 30 minutes before a workout. Intraworkout also definitely helps my energy during it.
If you want to try it it's basically
>carbs + protein 30 minutes before, oats and peanut butter for example
>carbs (+ protein if you can) during, fruit smoothie or protein shake with blended fruit
>protein 30 minutes after, whatever you want
Might work, doesn't hurt you if it doesn't.
I was basically intermittent fasting before it was cool growing up because I didn't like school food and my mom only cooked at 7:00PM every night. I just drank shit to stave off hunger till it was dinner time. So all our circumstances are different don't just think you got shit genetics just yet.
