I have 2-3 strong cups a day now, to the point where my legs will start bouncing up and down at my desk at work by lunchtime

I have no craving for coffee when it’s not available, but if I go near a coffee machine I just can’t help myself.

I gave up caffeine New Years Eve of 2017. First couple weeks sucked, but after that, I noticed the benefits. I sleep WAY more soundly (can fall asleep faster, wake up less often throughout the night, and have more energy upon awakening), and my cardio is better.

Highly recommend

I used to drink 6-8 cups a day for a long long time. Of course I felt shitty and tired all the time. Now I have two cups in the morning and maybe one in the afternoon when I have to work late. Coffee is actually quite beneficial in moderate amounts, especially with MS disease.

no talky

until

i've had my coffee

shh shhh shhhhh no no no

I quit coffee and switched to drinking fine Chinee ooloongs and white teas and I haven't looked back. I really enjoy the ritual of making several successive oolong brews, so it helps me get out of bed and get through my cold shower + morning push ups because I know I'm going to get that nice 20 minutes of relaxing oolong drinking while I plan out my day in my head. There is only about 30% as much caffeine as coffee, so the first two weeks were pretty hard. I was drinking 5-10 cups of coffee a day so at first I got headaches and felt like shit, but my crazy anxiety and insomnia totally went away. More sleep let me wake up earlier and also improved my lifts. The other good thing about Chinese tea is that it's easier to drink on an empty stomach, so it goes well with intermittent fasting. Plus, there is a world of fine teas and teaware out there for you to discover, many of which have more interesting an complex tastes than (all but the best) coffee imo. I still drink coffee maybe 1*/week if I go to a café woth a Friend, but otherwise I am 100% on that oolong + white tea now and I feel great.

instead of guzzling 40oz of liquid shit brewed by convenience stores and glorified fast food joints, I cut back to about 16ounces of quality stuff in the morning. I buy coffee beans from a local shop. In the morning I boil some water, handgrind the coffee, and brew it with a timer using my French press. It sounds cringe but it’s very therapeutic and the best coffee I ever had. Plus it makes the whole experience seem like more of a treat than buying 1 dollars worth of brown water and forcing myself to finish it for caffeine purposes. typically I brew the coffee and eat a nice breakfast with it then go lift. Then I have enough energy for the rest of the day.

Is there really a good reason to quit if you only have one cup of black coffee in the morning?

I used to drink a cup in the mornings during uni until I started getting headaches then quit for like 2 years.
Since I started working I've been drinking between 10-30 oz a day when I wake up and feel great for the past 2.5 years.

the trick to quitting coffee is to never start drinking it because it tastes like shit.

it really is an acquired taste. Like whiskey. You develop a palette for it. Or you get immune to it and chug the cheapest shit you can find

Is there anything wrong with drinking 1-2 cups a day simply because I enjoy drinking it? I’ve never noticed the caffeine effects from it and easily take a week or two off of sometimes

My sleep is pretty terrible in general though so wondering if it would make a difference

if your sleep is terrible, definitely try going a couple weeks without coffee/caffeine to see if that is the cause. Usually a cup in the morning isn't going to hurt anything, but I guess it depends on the individual's sensitivity to caffeine.

I've been through some shit, Jow Forums.

Combat duty, multiple surgeries while awake, once on myself to pull shrapnel out of my leg, lived in extreme climates without running water or electricity, etc etc.

Caffeine withdrawal is the worst discomfort I've been through. I just get nonstop vascular headaches and migraines for weeks, and nothing fucking works for it. I'm a total pussy about headaches can't stand 'em at all.

I think coffee is bad for your health and a waste of money but I've never had the willpower to quit. The longest I lasted was four weeks, and I still felt like shit and was in withdrawal.

I used to do the same thing and someone bought me a Chemex as a thank you gift, and then I got a manual burr grinder. I don't know if my Autism will send me down this rabbit hole even more, but I recommend it. This time last year I was still using a Keurig.

I drink one 12 oz cup about 1.5 hours after I wake up.

Later in the day I have 2 12 oz cups of black tea -- out of habit/ritual and not tierdness.

I sleep fine.

Should I quit caffeine?

the worst part about caffeine addiction is the random headaches when you've gone a few days without any just as a consequence of vacationing, dieting, or forgetfulness

usually takes me an hour just to figure out why my head hurts

In all seriousness I cannot imagine coffee as an addiction. Anyways, since I was a boy mate has been the thing in my life.
Of course I drink coffee but just a cup/day.

do you man. its a harmless hobby. i would probably go deeper if i could afford it

I drink different teas, coffee kinda sucks if you're not good at it but tea is hard to fuck up

quitting cold turkey is brutal. its a milder version of quitting cigarettes.

gradually reducing your intake is the way to go. 1st day you pour just a little bit out of your cup. 2nd day a little bit more than that. 3rd day, etc.

Dont listen to the anti-coffee jew

> quitting coffee
It's not meth, just don't drink it if you don't want it.

Literally why quit?
It's one of the most well-supported drugs out there.
Focus on drinking it in moderation, rather than quitting. Don't let the Jews dampen your Aryan mind with their anti-caffeine tricks.

God cigarettes are great, but they also really fucking suck it's weird.

When I think about smoking, I just imagine a really nice relaxed puff on a cigarette -- when in reality it never felt that good, and always made me feel like I was in a perpetual hangover.

i've quit cold turkey for weeks at a time and still fired tired and burnt out without caffeine. i have an extreme caffeine tolerance and it doesn't go down even weeks after abstaining

I would need to do it over Christmas break or some other extended period off work if I were to do it, if anyone manages to go off completely and not have a major decline in their efficiency and quality at work then I would argue you weren't addicted in the first place

I quit about about a month ago and though I felt more tired at the beginning, I am now just as energetic as I was when I drank it. The thought of drinking coffee now makes me think of being jittery rather than energetic.

I did quit coffee for a while because it gave me very bad reflux. Never quit caffeine tho, just switched to black tea. Then I got a gf in another city so I often need to drive on the highway really early and I started drinking coffee again, but only with lots of milk.

Last week I tried to quit caffeine entirely but it was really hard. I had cravings and lots of brain fog, and then a lot came up at work so I relapsed. I don't have trouble sleeping or anything, but I definitely need some caffeine to get rid of brain fog, so I'd like to quit. But I think the only way is to use up all I have, not buying new and then maybe taking a week off of work so I can just drift along until the fog dissipates.

>How did it go? Do you feel better?
fine and fine. i didn't feel anything to be honest but also I quit a lot of things since i became depressed the girl i liked is seeing someone else. she was literally a rare 10 for me. it was more annoying to reset my router because i was getting banned for suicidal posts. but im fine now. back on topic i don't really see any point to coffee anymore, I don't miss it, if anything i hope my teef will become a little more white again.

>trying to quit coffee
>whoops, here come the night shift week!
>have one day to completely turn my sleep schedule upside-down
I need a new fucking job
