Of course there has been progress in AI, but I don't see how any of those things invalidate the aforementioned predictions. The idea behind human level AI is that it would be a general intelligence that can do anything a human can do, and not just be a narrow AI like the AlphaGo AI, Deep Blue, etc. Even if the predictions are wrong, it could just as easily mean that AGI/ASI comes later than expected as opposed to earlier.

Then learn how to. It took me a long while to enjoy books but if was definitely worth it. You are probably not used to this type of entertainment, so the beginning is really hard. Start of with reading 10-20 pages a day of some easy and short fictional novel (lord of the flies for example). Also when you're reading try to create a scene in your head as detailed as possible, which will take up most of your thinking capacity and you won't get sidetracked. And then slowly try reading more and more pages a day. you can do it user don't give up!
