I thought religion gives people hope. Believing in God has made me sad because all the people around me will be going to hell and shit and I am afraid of what I do in life will send me to hell

Religion is meant to control, not to give hope. Usually controlling people through fear of the unknown: "follow us or something bad will happen to your life or afterlife" and such.

True hope comes from true satisfaction with yourself.

I love you user.

this is what drove me away from religion :( when i was younger, i lived in constant fear that god disliked me for my mistakes or the devil was trying to get me all the time. it fucked me up

but I want a God to look out for me and to help me in times of need

Try to look into buddhism m8

I mean I considered myself Christian because I was raised as so. I don't know if I can believe in another mythology just like that

just accept that it's all either a coping mechanism or remnants of a system in place to control stupid people
religion is a big fucking joke, rely on something real instead, like maybe yourself

Well even if you are christian there is still a lot of room for interpretation if christian thought.
It's not about the absolute cosmology of any religion but about the line of thought, about how man should take on the suffering of life.
There are a lot of free church movements that come very close to buddhist thought.
And i personally find buddhism very attractive because it comes down to the individual to overcome suffering by sheer power of will.

If there truly is a God, the omnipotent creator, who made us in his image, who loves his creations as much as we humans love our hands' creations - why would he bother himself with such pettiness?

Modern religion is a result of thousands of years of human bullshit and politics woven through traces of truth. You can realize everything about God inside yourself - afterall, you are His child, created in His image.

God is absolute love and peace. Hell doesn't exist. God would not let it exist. You can't sin against God - it would be as if a sculpture you made in sand sinned against you - completely silly. God knows what you are and He knew all your actions since the beginning. He loves you and cares about you.

What does an all powerfull beeing lack?
Limitation.
He bothers with humans because we are limited a thing he is not.

Stop being a brainlet. There is no need to be afraid all the time.

Unless you're female, then I feel sorry for you, because girls are chickenshit of everything.

No, what you want is another human being to look out for you and help you in times of need.

Yeah I can ignore the sadness I feel but I don't want people to suffer and it is always in the back of my head

Hell is only for the truly vile user, and even then I personally don't believe there's anything that is truly evil enough to warrant eternal suffering. Thousands of years of it, perhaps, but eternity is... well, you know. I think it's good to keep people on their toes however, it scares those from sinning who otherwise would have because they're not fundamentally virtuous. Just be kind to people user, have faith, and all will be well.

but humans are weak and can overcome everything

I know it's tempting to exercise logic in this case, but logic really does't make sense in an omnipotent being's realm. Logical framework is a limitation in itself. God can have everything, literally. We could all be just his temporary self-imposed limitations, but it's futile to try and understand.

All we can understand is His eternal love.

Well I'm not a christian, but I am a shaman.

You confused, and need help, I think. Eventually, you'll need to cultivate a little bit of indifference. Mainly because, you can't help them even if you want to, and you can't save humanity in the non-tangible sense.

People can only ever save themselves! Their ability to do so depends on personal choices that you will never have any control over. Might as well scrap that idea.

You make the world a better place only by cultivating your own strength and uplifting others with it. A bleeding heart will never accomplish anything for you-- except drain you of your precious life and vitality.

If you know that you fall, this is good. Greatest sin is pride, because of it people do not see their weeknesses. Understanding your sin is first step towards liberation.

>Greatest sin is pride

Huh.

I would like to disagree with that, fully and completely.

>implying God isn't full of love and forgiveness
sounds like the thoughts of a blasphemous infidel

stop crying and get on your knees, pray the supreme being to give you what you want, and try to help them into the right path by giving the example

How is hell a form of forgiveness?

liberation from what exactly?
