Your snatch was probably fucked to begin with, if you can't lift with hook grip you just can't lift period

Snatch wasn't perfect, but my form was good. My arms don't bend and my bar path was good, I think I pulled the bar too far back due to the extra control the hook grip gave me. I started jumping backwards and missing out in front. But when I went slower, I didn't jump back and made the lift easily.

Had a wrist injury for three months which set me back by a lot. I can front squat 130-140 and back squat 150-160ish. Go figure. My push press is going up steadily, did 80 for 3 and pushed an easy single with 85 (not a lot, but I'm basically making a comeback). I don't see it stalling any time soon. Did a program that was balanced between accessory work with enough practice in the full lifts, only partials I did were snatch pulls/clean pulls and shrugs. I can snatch a triple with about 70kg. Lifts are going up nicely, but my technique sucked ass last session. The snatching felt light but I just missed out in front. Just did a video analysis and the weight came over my heels. I'm gonna stop pulling it back so much. Gonna do a comp and I want to hit 80/100 there and hopefully 90/120 (or more) by the end of the year.
your technique is probably not that good if you're snatching 50% of your squat, so don't get complacent and think it doesn't need to improve. Keep at it though, if you're making good progress then don't change anything
My biggest flaw is that I don't drop under the bar. I catch most of my snatches in a quarter squat position and ride them down. I'm gonna work on that and probably snatch 10kg more instantly lmao

ive got a system worked out in my head, a rough program, the focus is to remain consistent and be ready for competition. i cant let myself miss very much at all. 165 wouldnt be a pr for me at all so it sounds like a waste of mental energy to hit that right now rather than following the plan.
after the arnold i'll be aiming to hit 140/180 consistently. before the arnold I want to be consistent with 130/165-170

BTW lads, I had a pretty lame session today. Why is my jerk so shit? I'm pressing out constantly even w/ light weights. My jerk has stalled, but my clean/snatch keeps going up

try relaxing your arms/wrists before you dip and drive for the jerk. try increasing your push press too, even though that might seem counter intuitive.
Thanks Commi. I'm doing the four day quick lifts program, and I just swapped incline bench for push-press last week. Should I up how often I push-press, or nah?
how often would you be push pressing in that program? it depends on all of your training variables but maybe twice a week at a decent volume is optimal. i really like doing a hard push press workout before doing a jerk workout personally. ive done my best clean and jerks that way.

It's no biggie, since I'm home-gym, I can fit it in whenever really.
once a week is probably fine. no need to be dogmatic about something like the frequency of an exercise.
You can push press after rack jerks if you want to.
i think it would be better to do it before and maybe later in the program when the weights get heavier he can drop the push presses for a while to focus on the jerk and to have the shackles of fatigue from push pressing alleviated.
That's probably better advice. I progress on push press 5x3 across once a week. Do you have any advice to progress later on commie?
