I would say ditch it, low calorie or not. You're holding onto the childish part of you that craves sweet tastes.

Ditch sugar and sweeteners completely, it will be touch for two weeks then you should lose the taste for it.

Get used to drinking water, it's what you're supposed to drink. I never had a sweet tooth but I keep a load of bottle sparkling water in fridge for when I want something different - squeeze some lime into it with some ice.

The substitute that they use instead of sugar has the exact same if not worse impact upon your body than honest sugar does. Insulin spike, increased appetite, fucks up gut bacteria, increased heart rate followed by tiredness and mental cloud, ect. Honestly I took a long time away from soda and just drank coffee, milk, and shakes and the next time I had one I could feel it in my veins. Shit is awful.

The way it works is aspartame and artificial sweeteners are way sweeter than regular sugar so the same for the same amount of sweetness of regular sugar you need way less artificial sugars, which end up being basically 0 calories

It's ok for now. It has zero calories and when you're starting, you have enough shit to worry about. But you should eventually quit carbonated drinks and try to stop your sweetness addiction.

Drink water, don't do the whole "well sweet tea/coke zero/juice are slightly better for me than soda" middle step. Belive me, used to drink at least 1.5-2l of soda every day for like 7 years, fucked up my teeth and stomach, took a ton of money to fix. I control my weight solely by changing what I drink. If I want to lose weight I stop drinking juices. Quitting shit like soda and juice should be a relatively painfree first step. Get one of those filtered pitchers and keep that shit full and cold in the fridge, absolutely based taste. If you're desperate for caffeine you can split the pills into thirds.

First, you don't want artifical sweeteners. Really, you don't. Second, natural flavourings. You don't want those, too.
But what you really don't want to drink is the phosphoric acid. You can clean toilets with this (really). It also messes with your body, in that your body can't use calcium correctly. Phosphoric acid and calcium generate a salt that's useless to you. So you don't get calcium and a useless salt on top of that. Do you really want to drink that?

Eat in small dozes throughout the day. If you're hungry, then drink a full glass of water, if you're still feeling hungry half an hour later you can eat something. Some people just deal, there are times when you really want to eat to the point of your stomach hurting, then you get distracted by work or whatever and it goes away completely for a few hours

Try setting time intervalls for eating. For example, start with 2 hour pauses between everything you eat, doesn't matter if it's a big meal or just a snack. Stick with it, even if it's hard. imo the first step is to get a bit hunger discipline.
Also, like the other user said, drink water.
You can also try to work out when you get hunger, even if it's only a few sets of one chosen exercise.

Most of the time you think you’re hungry you’re just bored and used to eating food to fill the gap in time. You’re eating for the taste instead of the meal. To get past this just drink some water and start a new activity. Get your mind off it. Also realize that you won’t die either, I’ve heard a lot of people get into a panic about not eating, you could realistically go close to a month without eating before you die, an hour or 2 really won’t do anything.

It causes a massive insulin spike and kills good gut bacteria and actually primes you for type 2 diabetes.
But you can go ahead and drink it if you want.

"getting toned" is a flimsy goal because there's no way to objectively tell if you've achieved it. it'd be better to pick a specific weight, BMI, or BF% towards which to work.

There's a lot of conflicting information surrounding artificial sweeteners. Some articles say they're excitotoxins that poison the brain and slowly make you retarded. Others say they're perfectly fine in moderation. But usually 95% of the time anything thats manufactured and not organic typically ends up being poison so I'd stay away from it.
