I am a fat piece of shit. I am trying to not be. I’m eating ~1500 calories a day, have been for weeks. Yet I haven’t lost jack shit in terms of weight. Granted, I’m slightly more active than your average abandoned car, but still. This says I should be losing a pound every two days or so. What am I doing wrong?

You’re miscalculating somewhere. Weighing/measuring everything? Don’t forget sauces and such

Most likely eating a lot more than 1500 calories

Sure as shit not 3500! even if I was miscalculating I’d still be way under I should’ve lost something anything! Still hovering around 240.

how much do you weigh, 3500 kcal is like the expenditure for a mostly sedentary 300lb male

consume less calories and see what happens

240, 19 years, 5’ 9”

TDEE calculations are estimates only, actual TDEE can vary by body fat % and activity levels. Just keep reducing your food intake until you are losing weight, then you know you are below maintenance.

I get slightly different answers on every website but the consensus seemed to be around 3500

this
I started at 350 lbs and my TDEE was like 3200 kcal. I lost 30 lbs since Jan 1 eating 1200-2000 kcal. Granted I’m on my 30s, but your TDEE is likely a LOT lower than 3500. Maybe your height is way off or something? I thought I was 6’3 my whole life until I found out recently I’m a 6’2 manlet

Does an inch make that big a difference?

It’s obvious you are eating more calories than you think.

No but if you’re overestimating an inch and overestimating activity (and underestimating food) it could add up to a meaningful difference.

Scoobys calculator says your maintenance is 2500 at 5’8 sedentary. So 1500 (without measuring/weight food likely more like 2000) kcal/week means you’ll lose 1 (more like .5) lb/week. That’s a big poop. Fluctuations in water weight would mean you likely don’t notice any loss for a month plus. It all makes sense

Hi Noah

desu just do a water fast

Why do fat dweebs rename stuff to sound less dweeby and pathetic?

>it’s not starving myself or anorexia, it’s a water fast!
>I’m not on a diet, that sounds girly. I’m “cutting”

I have over three years of meals in MyFitnessPal and here are a couple of the things I've learned:

If you're cooking at home you really need to weigh everything. Like, if you make a turkey sandwich, don't just search for "turkey sandwich" and pick the first one. Find the exact brand of bread you're using, weigh out your turkey, weigh out your mayo, weigh out your mustard, weigh out your lettuce and tomato, etc. Use grams whenever possible, and never use volumes (so don't enter a tablespoon of mayo, for example. Weigh out 15 grams of mayo and enter that.)

If you're eating out, it's important to realize that most restaurants are going to go by what tastes good, not what's healthy. So if you're eating out at an italian place don't search "meatball sub" and pick a 6 inch on wheat from Subway for 500 calories or whatever. Be realistic and look for the 1,000 calorie version from a major chain like Applebees, TGIFridays, or Cheesecake factory. All of those restaurants load their food up with salt and fat. Remember: the point is to lose weight. You're only screwing yourself if you underestimate calories. It's better to overestimate and go hungry than underestimate and go fat.

Related to the above, realize that chain restaurant calorie counts are based on someone making the food 100% according to recipe with perfect amounts. That doesn't happen much in the real world--they're not weighing out the mayo on your Whopper at Burger King, for example, or the cheese in your bowl at Chipotle. Sometimes they go under, and sometimes they go way over, so I recommend cutting out calorically dense condiments whenever possible, or asking for them on the side so you can control the amount better.

And finally, if it goes in your mouth, it goes in the app. No exceptions. If a coworker bakes cookies and you eat one, go to the app and put in the highest calorie Mrs Fields cookie you can find. If you get some chili from Wendy's, put in the two saltines you have with it. etc etc.

>~1500 calories a day
DOUBT

Fatty mcfats doesn't weigh his food

I'm picking up a lot of projection here lmao

You suck at counting calories

>I don't understand concepts and difference between words

Your body got used to 1500 and reduced your metabolism, you need to start fasting.
