I've heard that Jow Forums users generally have good and helpful advice for people.

Anyway, for a really long time I have been increasingly gaining weight and have suffered from depression. I am starting to think its due to low testosterone levels. I do not suffer from ED or hair loss but I do feel affected by other symptoms.

I really want to put my life together and do something instead of just eventually necking it. Meds dont work anymore.

Obviously, if you're overweight, lose weight slowly through lifting. 12% bf is optimal for T production. This is how I brought up my T levels when I was tested at 397 ng/dl.

I just said that the study posted above lasted only three weeks and that I am skeptical of it on that grounds alone. My post left little room for ambiguity, thus I find it quizzical that you are quoting from the abstract that I just got done saying is to be taken with a grain of salt in the very post that you are responding to.

But if you really want me to dissect this stupid study, fine, I'll roll up my sleeves and break it down for you.

In the full study (not the abstract that the user above posted), the baseline testosterone levels were the same in both groups by the end of the study. The elevated testosterone referenced by people who misunderstand the abstract of this study is only elevated during arousal. See pic related? That's not their baseline testosterone from the start of the study till the end. That's their test while sexually aroused. The fapping and nofap groups start at the same level after three weeks of fapping or abstinence, respectively. In other words, NoFap does not equal more test.

The sentence "although plasma testosterone was unaltered by orgasm, higher testosterone concentrations were observed following the period of abstinence“ refers only to a higher testosterone concentration while masturbating. Again, see figure C. The start of the graph is where NoFap takes you; the resting test levels are the same.

The abstract you continue clinging to so desperately is a summary of the experiment from the time of 10 to 60 minutes. Examine the starting point of the graph and tell me there's a significant difference between the groups. You can't. The beginning of the graph is where three weeks of NoFap takes you (around 4.5) and three weeks of fapping takes you right below that (around 4.4). That is not a significant difference at the starting point.

Unless you weigh 25 lb, this is not enough.
