I'm trying to quit drinking and smoking, and how the fuck do you deal with sobriety?

>90 mins in the gym
>shower
>clean room
>played vidya for several hours
>acquired almost 50 new songs for music library
>autistically organized and catalogued music
>watched Netflix
>cleaned room, dishes, car
>anxiously paced for 30 mins
>only been awake for 12 hours and still have 3 days off after this

What do you sober scrubs even do all day. This is maddening

Think about how much it hurts after you binge drink.

While I was drinking, I did the same shit you just did.

The better question is, what the fuck do you do while drinking?

I stopped smoking after 10 years by using nicotine gum. Obviously it's not the same as smoking but it worked for me. Still had some bad cravings though and felt like I had the flu for a week.

Cant quit drinking though, especially since there aren't any games to play right now. I have a fairly full schedule as a full time student with a part time job and lifting 6 days a week but I still come home at night and drink what would be considered a lot to most people

Idle hands are the devil’s plaything. If you’re just sitting around at home then you’re probably going to relapse. You need to find an outlet to replace your old activities - it doesn’t matter what. A time-consuming hobby, or volunteer work, a second job, whatever.

This. Just drink all day while you do you do productive things. Itll just be more fun

Go to thrift shop and buy new cheap outfit

you need some creative activity
try reading, writing, drawing or pay a visit to /DIY/

I either did the shit I listed in the OP or just sat on my ass and watched Youtube and drank

What do you do to pass the time during the winter?

Day 7 sober but five years since I stopped drinking heavily. I'm so fucking bored. All I do is go to the gym in the morning and then lay on the couch for twelve hours until enough time had passed that I can go back to bed.

>five weeks since stopped drinking heavily

Recovering alcoholic here. I picked up piano (used to play it as a kid), spend more time with friends and go to bed super early if I have nothing to do. Winter is the worst because during the summer I do anything I can to be outside (running, hiking, swimming, camping, whatever I can).

Can't wait for summer. I'm hoping it'll be less tempting to just stay inside and get drunk. Being able to go on a hike or play some disc golf will be helpful

Yeah hiking definitely helps me consume less. I go with people and they wonder why I push up the mt like a bat outta hell. Nothing better than feeling your heart explode In your chest to send you straight to bed without a beer or 10.

Uhh you dont work or anything?

I manage a motel and live on the property. It's the weird part of season right now so I only actually have a few hours of shit to do per week until mid March.

There you killed an hour, now what?

I quit drinking on Jan 1st. Here's my routine
>work 8-5
>gym 5:30-7:30
>home at 8, make protein shake and dinner
>watch Netflix, anime, play vidya, or study for professional certifications until 10:30
>go to bed
Rinse & repeat on weekends. Weekends kind of suck but find things to to keep yourself occupied. Also I reccomend quitting drinking first and then smoking. That way you have at least 1 vice to let yourself go with

Also the first 2 weeks are the hardest, I stopped really having cravings about drinking after that

People usually get hobbies to pass the time, that's how people git gud at shit, they're bored

Seems like not drinking has already had a positive impact on your life, look at all the shit you did instead.
If I were you I'd get a project, something you can pour money into that is worth it. A car is the obvious answer, maybe guns if you're American

Although your post is brief, it gives me hope!
