A few different ones from me
how do you guys train core? I've watched this video but it seems these are more like warm up or mobility exercises? youtube.com
What about neck? I watched this, too, but he doesn't seem to train the sides or his neck and only goes in one direction youtube.com
What about flexibility, what's a good app or website or list of exercises for increase mobility and flexibility? I'm interested in starting BJJ next month, so I wanted to start on that too
Since I'm doing BJJ: What about cardio? I run about 5 minutes before my sessions for the sake of warming my body up, but don't do proper cardio and don't really know how to run properly
And lastly: What's a good sport or martial art for someone with short legs and a long torso?
Thank you all
have I reached the no return gyno stage where even if I lose ~40 lbs I'm gonna have saggy tits because of the skin?
What is a fun 3-day routine with both hypertrophy and some strength? Trying to combine lifting with martial arts atm, but I can't seem to figure out a decent routine.
you're fine, start lifting and losing weight
>core
Hanging leg raises, ab wheel
>neck
wrestler's bridges
>flexibility
Also a question of mine, but I think just foam roll, google BJJ stretches, and do the shit in your BJJ class
>Cardio
BJJ is going to be plenty of cardio. If you need more, ask your coaches
>martial art
it sounds like you're not going to do it competetively, so just do whatever you like. (Kick)boxing is very fun, BJJ is fun. Try out different stuff and pick one or two
wrestler's bridges and the core lifts gonna be enough overal? my physio says I really need a stronger core because lack of core strength is putting pressure on my spine during squats
Idk if I'll ever compete, I'm 22, I'm far too old now to be good enough to compete desu. I have pipe dreams of being an amazing martial artist on par with the dudes in kengan asura, but I know it'll never happen
>tfw little sister practices bjj and muay thai, is in her university dance team and just won her first comp and was acrobat growing up which competed internationally
>dad was a sprinter who was on TV and won a couple awards and had the highest score in the army physical exams
>I'm a fat remard with hypermobile limbs and constant aches and pains in my joints
Poorfag here can't afford supplements like a mass gainer and protein whey what should I be eating?
Does strength correlate with muscle mass? I have good lifts and I’m at a good weight for my height but I should look a lot better than I actually do. I’ve been lifting for a while and I’m trying to seriously cut for the first time and I’m trying to look ottermode with some more muscle, but I really don’t know if it’s bad genetics or if I just don’t have a lot of muscle mass.
can i build respectable mass with only a pair of dumbbells?
cyanide lmao poorfag, just buy your supplements nigga, having internet and "im to poor" do not co together, homo
I only did the core lifts and got to 180kg squats 5RM, so I don't think that will be a problem. If you can do 3x8 hanging leg raises, get a light dumbbell (start with 1kg), put that between your ankles and work your way up to 3x8. Then add weight again.
For ab wheels, focus on form.
Just have fun with your martial arts man. You will just get better and better and more healthy as well.
And stop comparing yourself to other people, it's not good for your mental wellbeing.
Now go out there, kick ass, get better, and have some fucking fun.
Is this overkill or would it work? I'm trying to do Push&Legs - Pull since I can't hit the gym six times a week but I'm enjoying the PPL format. Also trying to train upper chest because I think my chest might end up looking ridiculous if upper chest doesn't grow much. (Is it even possible to get the aesthetic armour chest look when natty?)
Not really.
Depends how you train. Some people can look fairly average while still having pretty good lifts.
how much do you pay monthly for gym membership?
I pay $20/m. My gym has 3 options, though. First tier is $10, second is $20 (my current), last is $30.
I'm a skinnyfat loser and I need to change
Does anyone have any credible stuff to read regarding skinnyfat
does yohimbine cause water weight? I started taking it two days ago, at 0.2 mg / kg of bodyweight and I'm bloated and am holding on to a ton of waterweight.
the sticky
30 euros for unlimited access, sauna and activities
I was 100 kg last august, right now I'm 79.
I did go to m through june-sept, but I had to stop because job/bachelor thesis/mental illness. I started to do SL again a week ago, I feel really weak because I was able to bench press 60-70 kg in sept, right now I'm dying around 40. Also, any diet tips? I basically unconsciously did intermittent fasting, but I guess I need a normal diet to gain muscles, but I don't want to get fat again, and as you can see right now I'm still skinnyfat as fuck, I need to remove the bellyfat and the chess fat too, to be fair its a lot better than half a year ago and I feel a lot better in my body, I'm faster, I can run 5 km under 20 minutes, I'm a lot more flexible etc.
Any tips? I'm doing SL now with some extra routine, also do sit-ups(like 100 in one row), push-ups(3x25) and burpess(as much I can) every day. I want to look okay at least to the summer.
I don't think you have gyno, you're just fat
What do you guys do for lats besides lat pulldowns and rows? God, is there any row alternative? I fucking hate rows so much
also, is pendlay really that much better than standard?
Chin ups but even better for lats are pull ups.
You can also do the seated cable row with your back straight or high single hand cable rows.
wide stance pull ups my dude
I got a tattoo on my upperback according to the parlor I can hit the gym after 2 weeks, however what's actually a good time to hit the gym again?
>lift weights
>lose weight
wtf? I'm trying to gain. I'm eating as much as I can. Whats going on?
I mean it though.
you don't, you're not strapped for cash that much ever.
there's not a single one "omg too poor" who doesnt piss away their money on luxury items like booze, cigarettes or something else.
I'm doing SS right now but the squat rack is taken pretty often. What's a good program that trains strength but I can skip on squat and deadlifts every now and then?
Can I combine Westside for Skinny Bastards with martial arts (kickboxing/BJJ)? How can I do this optimally?
SL, but don’t skip squats
Why do I always give up when I start making progress?
Ok you've convinced me, I'll reevaluate how much money I can spend and still not end up without any savings.
Literally don't ever drink or smoke.
What do when you're at a crossroads with the guy you've been training with for 2 years because you are looking at different routines? The social element is important to me but I don't want to change my goals just to see my friends more.
I'm making gift baskets for a college raffle and one is fitness related. Should anything else be added to it besides an exercise mat, yoga block, one set of weights, and a jump rope?
One of my clubmates suggested preworkout or multivitamins but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to include stuff like that. I was thinking a foam roller instead
Foam roller is good, so is an ab wheel
+1 for ab wheel
I’m doing a cut right now, and lost 10lbs in a month. Is this too fast in that I’m losing muscle at this rate? Was some of this just a loss in glycogen and water weight? Stats: 5’10.5” king of manlets, 186 start weight, current daily calories: 1750 (estimated 500 defecit, though it seems to be more). I’m doing a AxBxAxx 5x5 routine with 15mins cardio right after lifting and I have a desk job, did I underestimate my TDEE?
I'm too much of a fat fuck for that desu. I can do mb 3x5 chin ups or pull ups and not with the best form
I dont want to skip squats but I'm saying what should I do if I cant access the squat bar
Do planks actually build muscle or is it just for core stability?
Are there any Jow Forums approved martial arts aside from boxing and MMA shit?
full body 3x week
How should I do progression? SS style, but just with weekly/bi-weekly jumps?
Does cardio like jogging or jumping rope increase the calves strength/size?
Rice/Chicken/Beans/Oats/Nuts etc. Buy meat from local butcher or grocery store when it’s on sale. Protein powder/mass gainer isn’t essential stuff
bjj, wrestling and muay thai
Yes, assuming you're actually eating after doing so.
I injured my shoulder bench pressing yesterday and have to take a week or two off from lifting. Im really fucking bummed about this guys. How do I keep my morale up while I wait for my shoulder to heal? I was thinking about taking this time to start my cut and getting in to low impact cardio but im scared I'll lose my gains if i do that.
>found a nice looking muay thai place near me
>$1200 year long contract for 3 classes a week
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that retarded
How do I into a tradwife gf
afaik a place askin you for a long ass contract like that is a bad sign. Ask for a free introductory class
I always workout fasted in the morning before work and eating breakfast right after. I eat the same breakfast at the same time everyday no matter if I workout or not.
Can someone tell me why on workout days I have no appetite and on rest days I'm hungry all the time? Makes no sense.
Can someone answer this pls
i ironically started shouting "LIGHTWEIGHT BABY!" for my last rep as a meme and now i cannot stop. if i don't do it i cannot do my last rep. have i unintentionally given myself autism from browsing Jow Forums too much?
bamp
Is March 1st a good time to start cutting? How long should I be cutting for?
Damn dawg you're going to be in the gym for like 2 hours on your push days. I am also in the same dilemma where I don't want to dedicate a whole day to legs. I focus on compounds though and not the accessories.
BP
SQ
OHP
Facepulls
rotator cuff
abs
Why are people so opinionated when they've just started?
Telling me a DB floor press is bad form/less efficient but doing a 3 day brosplit himself.
Either way giving "advice" when people don't ask for it is assholish.
sounds like an upper / lower split would be better for you. try a PHUL or just a traditional upper lower
hormones. your body isn't outputting ghrelin because it's sending out other things related to effort and recovery.
you have to find new ones to avoid autism. try "morning paper" or "power", watching some larry wheels will burn these into you just as coleman burned into you lightweight and peanut
google "dunning kruger"
Hurt my ankle. I can't squat nor DL for a few days/weeks. I'm on SL so i'm supposed to squat 3x a week and DL 1.5x a week.
What can I replace them with (exercise and sets/reps). Obviously leg press in a no-no...
Thanks
I've been doing a variation of Phrak's Greyskull at home. I only use dumbbells for most of the lifts (I have a set of handles and plates that goes up to 100 lbs each, i.e. 200 lbs total).
Deloading is working and everything, I have broken a couple PRs for the lift I was struggling with. But As soon as I add weight I fail to get 3x5 again. If this ever gets frustrating, is there a reason to not switch up to something like reverse pyramid sets? I like what I'm doing, I like the simplicity. Just wondering if anybody has had success with RP stuff.
Leg and hamstring extensions or something like that? I don't know how else you'd work your legs without using your ankles at all.
Hey buddy! I lifted weights the day after I got all of my tattoos! Nothing bad happened and my lifts were unaffected, it might bleed a little bit. Maybe if the tattoo is very very large you can take more than 1 day off.
Remember Ink will be pumping out of your tattoo for a day or so be sure to keep it wrapped, and don't wear white!
Is "Ivysaur 4-4-8" still recommended for DYELs?
And how many extra accessories is optimal?
Yeah I was thinking that. RDL are OK though, not that much ankle involvement... Plus back extension I guess. But I'm curious about what range would be best...
I don't really mind spending two hours twice a week for push days. I'm worried it would actually do more harm than good though since I think it might be overkill.
You're probably right but I really enjoy the PPL format :/
>Stronglifts 5X5 for 3 months and then switch to a hypertrophy program like GVT
>Muay Thai as cardio
>Lean Bulk (3000 cals)
Will that help me with bulk up to a great body without looking like a complete fatass (you know the ones who do 5x5 programs that give these programs a bad name)
I tried it and I prefer SL5x5 with some accessories.
Add dips and chin ups (weighted if possible). Maybe close grip BP on OHP day. And I like behind the neck OHP (on the 8-12 range) on BP days.
Whats wrong with my upper chest, theres like a dent kind if shaped like a pyramid. its not that noticible on camera so i circled it. Im thinking it could be bad training because when i flex it kind of fills out but ive been benching a while and when im standing normal theres its just a huge gap.
Yes, your cut will almost always take 2x as long as you think it will. In all my cuts my biggest regret has been starting too late. Only 2 months till June.
Lifting 6 months now, I was doing some genuinely retarded fasted lifting 5x5 to start off and made nearly no gains in the first 3 months, have been fucking packing on mass for the last 3 months though, I’ve decided to up my caloric intake in order to get big.
Should I venture into creatine, l-carintine, bcaas, etc? Will I see more gains if I do this?
It’s just underdevelopment of the clavicular head of your pecs. Train more incline dumbbell bench (30-45* incline), and low-to-high flyes.
What the fuck do I do at the gym? There are no instructions to follow.
I just go 4 times a week to do some treadmill for an hour.
Has anyone donated blood? What are the benefits? Are there any benefits to donating plasma or platelets? Why do they say to call if you have flu like symptoms within 7 days of donating?
Creatine is the most cost-effective and well-researched sport supplement. BCAAs and EAAs only help in any significant way if you are protein starved.
It depends on your goals. Find a program for you and stick with it
try judo or boxing instead. they typically only charge ~$100 a month.
Holy shit just went running for the first time in 4 years, and it was awesome. I always thought I hated running but turns out it's because I was just unfit. now that I'm fit it feels amazing. Did it on EC as well and I feel weirdly high.
where can I find a program?
What's a good calorie/food tracker app?
For men it lowers the risk of certain cancers. In France, you have to call them if you have anything in the following 15 days, so that the blood is destroyed, or not used in transfusions.
Why? Would there something be wrong with you if you do get flu like symptoms following the donation?
For building muscles just google muscle building routine or look for arnold Schwarzenegger's book is a good start.
I live in a boarding house which means I can't choose what I have for breakfast/lunch/dinner (more or less). Food here is decent, but tastes mostly like ass either way and is not optimal fitness-wise.
Should I invest in like a meal replacement like Huel or something? I'm currently living off gainers mixed with olive oil, peanut butter, oats, bananas and milk but I'm thinking of switching out the dairy cus acne lol
what about fat loss?
I found out my first protein supplement had creatine in it
My doctor just told me, I didn't read the packaging back then.
I have a month to live.
MyFitnessPal
just re-read this and noticed I forgot the most important question:
>what are some good alternatives to gainer (which uses dairy protein) that I can use as meal replacement? I sometimes have to live solely off meal replacement cus low appetite
Should I cut or bulk?
overkill
I have been doing the reddit ppl for a few months and I feel like my progress has been slow. I started out as a skinny fat that hasnt done any physical activity in his lode. It felt like there was no way for me to keep up with the recommended increase of 10 lbs per session on deadlift. Currently got to 165 lbs for 5 reps after starting at 95 lbs. Other lifts are in a similar situation, bench went from 60 lbs to 95 lbs for 5. I do everything in the program and really push myself until failure. I think eat enough but my sleep is pretty bad. I dont get enough sleep several times per week and end up taking naps. Could it be that sleep is completely killing my gains?
Well you might have had the virus before donating, the symptoms only appearing later. So better safe than sorry...
making good progress brah, but too early to cut. I don't think you realize how much of your size is water weight or fat
17-18% fat according to my shit scale.
Calisthenics fag here, I have hit 20 regular pull ups max and am looking for some advice. Should I move onto archer pull ups and drop regular pull-ups entirely? I am considering gettings rings, don't have access to a weight vest atm
