>Called gym owner >Set up a deal, Going to do Judo 2x a week, and boxing 1x a week that will work on techniques, punches, etc..
Will this be way too much workload Jow Forums? i also lift 3x a week. For anyone that lifts and does a martial arts, post in here and post what days / hours you train.
I was thinking the same, on those 3x of lifting it's all compound lifts, so squats, DL, OHP, bench etc.. i imagine my core and back is going to get absolutely hammered.
Sucks.. i wish i could be a machine and do it all.
David Martinez
weight lifting and doing MA is retarded
Owen Williams
if you eat enough and sleep enough you'll be fine, assuming you're of young age. you just need to accept the fact that your progress in all 3 will be much slower.
Owen Thomas
honestly just cut back on the weightlfiting a tiny bit; eat more; and sleep more and you'll be fine. Don't go for mad lifts and you might be sweet as bro
Angel Perez
I do Judo on Monday and Friday, karate on Wednesday, and lift on Tuesdays/Thursdays. If you eat a lot and have no friends like me it's definitely doable, but beware of Judo demolishing you until you learn to fall properly and get in better shape.
Luke Cox
Dammmit, i already eat 3k calories a day, around 160g protein, 300g carbs, 100g fat... you reckon I'll have to bump this up a considerable amount?
Fruits and vegs I'll up lots for sure.
Cheers, let us hope so.
>have no friends like me it's definitely doable,
Well, i'm in good shape then. Outside of work colleagues i don't have friends because of my work.
Judo is alright, but being thrown hurts.. the biggest problem i had was getting dizzy from falls, throws, and break-falling etc..
Owen Long
karate tuesday and thursday, lifting MWF. I use it as my cardio, and so far it's going pretty well. Plus I know how to fight now lol, no use being Jow Forums if you can't use it.
Wyatt Reyes
Which should I do first and also which is better for a beginner, bjj or boxing?
Asher Harris
Literally potato's or potatoes, what interests you more? striking or ground game?
Austin Fisher
Striking but I don't want to get CTE from sparring.
Dylan Evans
I'll tell you straight up, boxing isn't for soft cocks.
Jace Young
>will working out 6 times a week be too much lol
Chase Diaz
I don't mind getting punched I just dont want brain damage basically.
Gavin Carter
>bb-bb i dun want CTE from sparring
Boxing isn't for soft cocks you retard, sparring you will get your head knocked about weather you like it or not.
Pick your poison.
Jeremiah Lee
taking hits to the head isn't conducive to mental health, but thinking you'll get CTE after some beginner sparring sessions as if its a disease is absurd. if it concerns you, focus on grappling and do striking at a later time
Adam Carter
Is it even worth pursuing boxing if I don't plan on sparring at all?
Daniel Butler
sparring is 90% of the fun and it's what actually makes you good, so no. might as well practice in your garage
Elijah Thompson
I train kickboxing and jiu jitsu on top of weightlifting. I'm currently running 5/3/1 boring but strong along with it. My routine from week to week is below. I've been doing it for a month now and it's working very well. I've been doing martial arts for 9 months and at first I was having a lot of trouble figuring out how to mix it in with lifting, ehcih I've been doing on and off for five years. Monday: 5/3/1 Bench and boring but strong OHP, one hour kickboxing, one hour jiu jitsu Tuesday: sometime a break day, sometimes jiu jitsu Wednesday: 5/3/1 Squat with boring but strong deadlift, jiu jitsu Thursday: rest Friday: 5/3/1 OHP with boring but strong bench, jiu jitsu Saturday: long kickboxing session with some light rolling at the end as well Sunday: 5/3/1 Deadlift with boring but big squat
Anthony Sullivan
>Judo 2x a week, and boxing 1x a week commit more. this is a pathetic amount of time
Isaiah Parker
>commit more
Spoken like a true moron with no life responsibilities. Move out of moms home.
Thomas Martinez
it depends how young you are. Under 25 and you can do whatever you want but past that you're probably too old. I used to do muay thai virtually every other day and do pplpplx but it started to catch up with me
Lincoln Perez
Yeah because working out 6 days a week is retarded unless you're on steroids
Brayden Long
i would recover in time, also i was in the military it's literally all there is to do. Eat, train, and lift.
Aiden King
>judo 2 times per week >boxing 1 time per week this is a waste of time you fucking idiot, why does anyone think this is acceptable, nobody that know anything about lifting goes to the gym to a ffucking 1 day workout per week, everyone lifts a minimum of 3 days per week, why do you think is diferent for martial arts, something that is more technical than lifting, do either a minimum of 3 times per week if you ever want to get decent at it, lifting 3 times per week on top of judo or boxing is fine but you will have to drasticly reduce the amount of sets and focus on compounds for strength
Noah Barnes
Should be fine, I do judo 3x a week and weightlifting 4-5x a week, but 1. I’m twenty i can recover pretty well, and two I sleep alot and eat like a motherfucker, I’m probably averaging 3500 kcals daily at 6’0 175lbs. So take that into account No it’s a very good idea, you’re the retard. If you’re getting dizzy when getting thrown, double check to make sure your head isn’t bouncing when you fall. Consider doing some neck training, such as neck bridges or headstands. Also maybe try to do some practice rolls before practice starts
Charles Gomez
MA is cardio you should do every day you aren't lifting faggot
Jayden Diaz
>humans only exerted themselves for 3-6 hours a week historically
Julian Thomas
tony ferguson says he hasn't sparred for like 4 years and he's one of the best strikers in the lightweight division, as goofy as he is.
hard sparring is pretty fun for jiu jitsu (no gi) but can be pretty taxing. Thais do playful sparring out there (partly because they'll have like 300-400 fights+ for more experienced fighters) and want to increase their longetivity... and partly because the Thais are pretty awesome like that. Pretty fun people to be around, but sometimes westerners can take sparring too seriously and probably cause more harm than good.
Luis Kelly
I think you do mind being punched because that's exactly what gives you brain damage.
