What is /fast/?

What’s the difference between intermittent fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc.?

How do I safely do an extended fast?
>Take snake juice, or just supplement electrolytes.
>Water=2L
>Potassium chloride =1 tsp (No Salt)
>Sodium chloride = 1/2 tsp (Himalayan Pink Salt)
>Sodium Bicarbonate = 1 tsp (Baking Soda)
>Magnesium Sulphate = 1/2 tsp (Food Grade Epsom Salts)
>Mix these in 2L of water and sip it throughout the day.
>[OPTIONAL] 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar and 4 tbsp lemon juice. DO NOT MIX with snake juice, drink separately.

Won’t I go into starvation mode?

Definitely refeed the day before the event. You need to eat gentle things line bone broth, protein shake, or heavy cream. Avoid carbs. If you start eating at the event you'll get nasty stomach issues.

So wait I cheated today with like 5 Clif Bars and a pack of pop tarts (Haram I know) but haven’t seen any water weight gain. For good measure I’m dry fasting 24 hours and am currently taking my second hot bath (They make me sweat buckets)

If I wake up tomorrow morning and I still haven’t gained, am I good to drink water without worrying about retention?

Unless you're under 12% bodyfat and going to a competition, don't worry about water retention. It will all get peed out eventually.

I know but I hate to see it. I was 177 pounds this morning, 179 after the binge, and now I’m 177.5 (at least before getting in the bath) but I’ve gotten to 190 from drinking a gallon after one Clif Bar.

How are you calculating your Bodyfat? There should be no way you're 25% with that weight and height.

Measuring tape, and eyeballing it honestly.

Yikes. That does look rough. Fast if you want, but you're at a weight where you might be better served doing weight training instead.

cheers for that. ended up going to woolies and found something called "lite salt" which is 66% potassium and 33% sodium. got some pink salt too which ill mix together to get it back up to 1:1

Can I ease my way into snake fasting with eating only eggs, then only diet drinks, then snake juice? I can’t fast regularly, it’s too much of a shock to my body. It’s especially hard since I binged and fucked my ketosis today.

I play piano at a fairly above average level but got and bored of that (been playing for 18 years), want to learn to produce music but I wiped my fl studios from my computer and can't find a good torrent to get it back. Also I already know basic guitar (ukelele by extension I assume) and I have no interest in that, rather just learn more piano at that point.

That said, what are some other cool hobbies. I bought some shitty Lego knock off bricks from dollar store but that's more for thereputic reasons than a hobby, maybe put a couple bricks down to keep me on track. /Blog

Hey I used to fall into that cycle in your image, I still being in between fasts sometimes, but I no longer fail fasts in general. The key is to just break through. I know you want to work your way to it, but you just gotta do it man. If you can get to 3 days, your entire perspective on things will begin to shift. 5 days and you can kiss sugar cravings goodbye (at least for me). And no only are they gone when I'm in keto, but just in general, I no longer have any desire to eat sugary snacks.

Can I just egg fast my way into ketosis (probably 8 eggs a day for a week) so that the fast is easier from the start?

Oh and one last measure to stay on track. I have marked my calendar and will mark off eveey day, will probably add my weigh in why not.

The first 3 days are the hardest, after that I have no doubt I will hit my goals.

Do you believe fasting makes someone less or more creative? I usually don't have sexual dreams but I had one the other night where I unknowingly fucked a tranny and when I found out I was so disgusted I murdered it, and the only feeling I had was that of breaking fast but in my sleep. I think I attribute that to being more creative but I dunno

I'm doing 20 day fast, 3 days refeed, 20 days, so I started 3 days early. I'm just a bit scared to go 40 straight is all. I'm 248 now, I wonder if after 40 days I will be down to close to 200.

In my experience, when I've been fasting for 24hrs your brain tends to get into a "Clear" state. I play guitar on and off and I could start feeling different ideas flowing in my head. My longest fast was 3 days and in that time I had more musical ideas come to me then than ever before.

Suppose the only way to figure out is to try :)

My main hobbies are playing cod and counterstrike at very high levels (played with some pros in cod today and managed to actually keep up). When I fast I play like absolute dogshit.

So maybe where my concentration and skill lack, my creativity will flow. Never tried being creative on fast. I will say watching shows like Lost got me more emotional than usual

Caffiene fucked up my weight loss on my last fast. So maybe cut the coffee. On day 3 of the fast I drank 2 litres of coke zero and pissed it all out. The next morning I had gained 4 ounces. In 24 hours of fast I gained almost half a pound, pretty sure it was from caffiene.

That's a very unspecific question.
I'd say probably not since the cause is likely high muscle tone due to posture problems/too much sitting... did you try lower back stretches?

Does it make the most sense to start your fast on a lifting day?
I plan to eat a deficit of mostly protein and some greens to "de-carb" 2 days in advance, but I am not sure if my last meal should be after I lift to prevent unnecessary muscle atrophy.

OMAD worked great for me before but then i got depression gained weight and i haven't done it again since i started going to my new college

im not depressed anymore but i gota lose 10 kg, i set an alarm to have my OMAD always at 5:00 and another one to do cardio every moring, i know if i can keep this up for one or 2 week my body should just get used to it again and i'll start doing it naturally again

Unless you go really slow, the speed of your weightloss does not the influence the amount of loose skin

48 hours is nothing. Eat whatever, ir do as the other user says and eat eggs n spinach. Beef broth and carb-free protein shake is a choice as well.

Even if the glycemic index of a sweetener is low or zero the artificial sweetness combined with a flavor can trigger an insulin response. Problem is glycemic index is just tested with the isolated sweetener, not an actual diet coke, so there isn’t data. Insulin response is also harder to test for so glycemic index is used as an analog for insulin response which is imperfect.

Thing is, do you want to risk it? Just have green tea or black coffee, go without soda for a couple months, you’re already doing the same with food

New to fasting, real question, if I'm doing a 16 hour wet fast and 8 hours of healthy eating with 1 cheat meal a week, should I make sure that cheat meal is still within those 8 hours? Or is fasting 6 days a week and eating outside the window 1 day okay?

just have the cheat meal within that 8 hour period, theres no point breaking the schedule for no reason unless you literally are unable to eat during that period, which is unlikely

I’m f/177cm/59kg, so low bmi for my height. How long can I safely fast for ?

I’m interested in the mental benefits and autophagy, I’ve also recently been diagnosed with coeliacs disease and am interested to see if a long fast would be good for gut. I’ve done several 48 hour fasts without issue, and generally prefer the empty stomach feeling over feeling full of food.
