Hi all. I pulled something in my side near my rub cage while lifting last week. Was a bit immobile for a while. Then last night my wife noticed this. From what I can see online it's either a muscle tear or internal bleeding. Any of you guys had any experience and recognise it or should I be heading to the doctors ASAP.
Muscle Tear?
lmao at americans who have to ask when to go to the doctors when their shit is clearly all fucked up
go to the doctor right now you brainlet
You should obviously be at the doctors right now
>muscle tear
>not going to the doctor immediately
Dude, btfo your computer and go see a professional. I didn't bother with my leg for months and now 4 years later it still isn't at 100% health despite weekly physiotherapy.
might be rib fracture
happens during squats when your bracing is shit
RIP
>muscle tears while lifting babyweights and being dyel
Worse genetics I've seen yet.
I'm English mate. But am working away from home so can't get to my doctors so would have to go to A and E and sitting there for 5+ hours so thought I'd see if anybody had suffered similar and will wait to see my own doctor in 3 days when I'm home.
Nah, it's just a hassle to take off from work or take time out of your day. I can understand. Last week I smashed my head on my car's trunk lid; should have gone to get stitches, but i just didn't want to risk having the back of my head shaved. Plus I was about to go chill with my boys
I'm a groundworker mate and was lifting at work. Very heavy cable spools.
That looks like a muscle tear friendo.
wtf did you do?
Call an ambulance, retard.
Muscle tear. Almost 100% certain. Looks like when my brother tore his pec off his sternum benching.
Get to the doctor. I'd call ahead just to save the hassle of going in and being referred to a specialist. GP's as a general rule are just good for giving basic meds and pointing you in the right direction.
>tore his pec off his sternum benching
Jesus Fuck. I should really go easy with the dips, my sternum's been hurting like a motherfucker lately.
You aren't gonna do it. I couldn't either. My brother is a freak. He was going for a 4 plate bench as a 5'9" manlet in high school. Body just couldn't keep up. He now won't lift over 225 on bench, but does it for cardio range reps. Last I asked he was doing sets of like fucking 25-30.
I'd be more concerned about shoulders with dips.
dips can put more pressure on the sternum tendons than benchpress can. Which is why it's so easy for newbies to get sternum tendonitis with dips
Yeah, I'll probably lay off of dips for a month, just in case. Replace it with cable flyes variations and maybe do OHP and incline dumbbell press both instead of rotating them.
>it's a hassle to make sure you are healthy and not fucked up for life
Just call out, it's not difficult. I'm glad brainlets avoid doctors and die.
>googled that
>second link is 'Potato swelling of sternum'
Fucking hell
Huh. I've literally never felt it in my sternum. My bad. I lean forward pretty hard when doing them, so maybe that's why I feel the shoulders every now and then.
Go to A and E lad, that look like serious shit.

Literally... rip in piece
Sorry OP

You don't understand, user.
The absolute state of American health care
B-but universal healthcucks have to wait in line. I-it's not like I mind spending tens of thousands BAKA
eurasian medfag here. that purple bruise is called ecchymosis. in an accident like you described, it can happen when you injure any tendon, ligament or muscle. 3 possibilities: simple injury, partial tear, complete tear. since I can't do physical examination online here are the possibilities:
*simple injury: apply cold for first 48 hours, after 2 days, apply warm and massage, bruising will go away faster
*partial tear: apply cold and immobilize the injury site
*complete tear: surgery
you can examine yourself. press your fingers among the injury site, if there is a spot where it hurts much, that is the site of a probable injury point. complete muscle tears generally bruise much more (pic related) so I give a low probability of complete tear.
additional info: ecchymosis is caused by blood seeping out of torn structure, and getting under your skin.
you didn't notice this fuckhuge thing on your side for a week?
Lol none of this is true, cope harder faggot
based medfag
Op here. At hospital. Is a severe muscle tear they say. But will heal itself if I take it steady. Thanks for the help.
>eurasian
is that russian or finnish?
You need that shit looked at. That could be a partial or complete rupture of intercostals or other muscles or a fractured rib. Fractured ribs are generally treated conservatively but ruptured muscles may need surgery.
Unlikely but there's a chance of compartment syndrome and other nasty shit.
It's probably just severe bruising but you I wouldn't chance it
what's the difference
I think that's Central Asia. Kazakhstan and shit. Turkey maybe?
Same shit happened to my friend with his triceps, he hammered the shit out of them then one of them really fucking started hurting and when he got home his arm was all bruised up. He just didn't lift with it for some time and it went away
But this is good because I'm healthy (at the moment). Also we don't need social security for people who lost their job because I have a job (at the moment)
>Be American
Doubtful
>Potentially fired for taking off work to visit Doctor
Extremely easy lawsuit, not even fucking remotely true lmai
>Hospital will charge several thousand dollars for routine visits, even if it turns out nothing is wrong
You certainly do get charged thousands, if you don't have health insurance
>If something is wrong, they'll redirect you through a string of other doctors for confirmations/second opinions, each of which will cost several thousand more dollars
Good thing health insurance covers most, if not 100%, of this. Why would you larp as an american lmao. Dreaming to dream I guess?
His whole tricep went away?? Did it leave through his penis?
