If we're talking horizontal bench the highest I've done is 50lbs each hand so 100lbs total.

Could maybe do more, but I like to do dumbbell bench on an adjustable bench so I can hit at multiple angles.

Redpill me on flat dumbbell bench. I do dumbbell incline after bench usually, but interested in trying flat dumbbells. Heard they work great for chest, does anyone do them instead of barbell bench?

That's what I do because I feel less likely to fuck up. I know I could drop it on my face but that motivates me more than getting stuck under a bar. Besides that weird mental stuff, get a good stretch to the chest and have to work to stabilize a bit more.

35lbs each hand 3x12. Today is first week of month two.

Last year before my trip to Brazil, I after lifting for about 4 months barely made 1pl8 on the bench, but I sorta half-assed it and didn't do well. This time, I'm sticking to discipline and diet and hope to get to 1pl8 by the end of this month and aiming for 2pl8 before my Iceland trip end of July.

never do flat with db, never do db before either bench or ohp so I do 3x14 with 40's once I am already exhausted, I would be able to do more but for some god damn reason my gym skips from 40's to 55's so I have to work with that weight.

Bench press doesn't isolate the pecs like other exercises do. Your chest does shoulder flexion and ADDUCTION across midline. You should be isolating with those movements to feel it the most.
