I live in Philadelphia. We instituted a "soda tax" around 3 years ago. Local politicians now run on platforms about abolishing it. Stores have little plaques by the bottles stating that the prices are higher because of the tax. Poor people are livid.

The kicker is that the tap water here is pretty decent. I came from a rural area with a well, and I usually hate city water, but this shit isn't terrible. I don't understand how people drink enough soda for this to effect them in any tangible way.
