That's pretty impressive for a guy your size. As for me:

I've always been slow as fuck. I think it's because I'm part Asian and have super thick calves with very low insertions. I have literally never won a foot race in my entire life, ever. I'm also duck footed and have tried some meme tier physical therapy exercises to correct this but none of them did shit.

My best time ever for the mile was when I was only 13 and still weighed 185 lb at a height of around 6'0. I think I was running around 7:00 back then, which is still quite slow for someone in decent shape, which I was. I take solace in the knowledge that Bo Jackson was an absolutely terribly miler and still managed to become one of the greatest athletes of all time. (Cope, I know).

what the fuck? I thought fit was all fatties who hated cardio. Great job

Doing cross country and track in high school and having a fear of getting fat like the rest of my family in high school set me up on cardio for life.. 3-5 miles a day, your slow pace should still be mildly difficult to talk. Sprint or do mile repeats once or twice a week, and do your all out 5k once a week or once every other week. 25-40 miles a week shouldn't be enough to totally kill physique/gains if you're doing everything else right.. at my worst i only focused cardio and abs until junior year, realized I was a meme and added lifting regularly. Surprisingly lifting is very important for speed. There's a reason most good short distance runners (anything under 10k) usually aren't string beans. It was fun winning races being the only non beanpole on the line. Before I started lifting religiously my best 5k was only 19 or 20 minutes, very little improvement for years, with lifting you could drop 10-20 secs a month or more til you plateau and then you'll only start dropping seconds a month if that.. but by that point you'll approve of your times anyways, and it'll be easier every time. When I hit plateau my PR was and still is 15:42 consistently for the past 4 months, but it's easier and easier every time.

Sub 5, forget exactly the time.

So 8'1"

Great job, dude! I'm proud of you!

Idk about now, but before I hurt my knee I liked to run half marathons. My mile time was down to about 4.40

Similar experience, I’m and ran 15:40 and 32:17 5k/10k. Lifting helped me shaved a minute off my 5k. Definitely better to be the best athlete on the line than a specialist.
