It's incredibly easy to track calories and macros if you make something from scratch at home. If at a sit down place, compare it to other foods you've had before, this is easier if you have a calorie counter app like myfitnesspal. Hell, chain restaurants have their own verified foodlog entries, so just use those if eating at Applebee's or something.
