Which do you want more? Being accepted by others or accepting yourself? Which is more useful? What is the ONE constant in your life?
/sig/ Basics: >YOU are 100% responsible for the way you experience life. Not your parents, not your surroundings, not your ex, not your bully, not your future spouse. YOU. Complete, sincere acceptance of this is the most fundamental step to bettering yourself, and it is by far the hardest thing you'll ever do. >Work your way to becoming the best YOU you can be - one step at a time. >Set realistic Goals and have a Plan. Use short-term Goals to keep yourself going. >Learn helpful and effective daily/weekly/etc. routines, including mundane ones. >Have a steady sleeping rhythm - one that works for you, so long as you keep to it. Get 6-11 hours of sleep. pastebin.com/XpAGg8pn >Meditate ( Guide: youtu.be/F0jedwTzIJg - important: relax your jaw, lips almost parted ). >Learn to be Brutally Honest with yourself. Stop being a slave to your Ego. >Have the balls to follow any beliefs to their logical conclusion. Think critically, question everything. >If you need to put others down to feel good about yourself, you are putting yourself in a position where you are dependent on the people you look down on. >Focus on the essentials. If you try to do everything at once, you’ll burnout. Little by little.

You want the feelings you tell yourself those things bring you. >The world is born through you, for you. From what you can tell, there only exists YOUR Awareness.

guys, I never had any issues in my life but I find myself lacking challenge/hardships. It feels like I'm on a train of normalcy that'll go until I'm old. I guess people would describe me as normal/boring. The only real issue I ever had is tinnitus tbqh
any ideas on how to further improve and create some kind of challenge?

Why the fuck am I attracted to a scrawny, balding old yoga teacher?

>Meditations I'm only about 15 pages in but so far it's very basic stuff. I understand it was groundbreaking for the time, but will I get more from it as I continue?
What do you do? I've heard it's hard getting jobs with either but having both probably helps a lot.
Landon Lee
It wasn’t really groundbreaking for the time it’s pretty generic for stoicism But it’s important because it’s simple and accessible and that Marcus aurelius was an important historic figure
Henry King
I work in a corporate treasury center. Thanks to my languages I got a job quite quickly & am now a manager after 6 years. Wll probably make it to CFO if I continue like this for 15 years more

My friends dont care that Im 5'6 or that Im a nice guy, they still hang out with me. But girls.... Ugh what is this fucking nightmare, I wish I was asexual

Hearing this from a stranger on the internet probably won’t give you the epiphany you need, but I can see a couple things wrong with this mindset already: >you’re a quitter and, dare I say, pretty narcissistic >height isn’t as important as you think, find a 5’1” qt instead of the 5’8” amazons I’m sure you’re dreaming of >love is important, but it’s not just about having a fucktoy to be proud of and show off to other dudes; it’s about finding someone who gives you honest joy and to whom you can give honest joy in return. Dating is about finding that relationship for the majority of us who aren’t lucky enough to have love fall into our laps, and there will be many failures along the way.

I just took it to mean no consuming media meant for sexual arousal or gratification. No porn, no "visual novels" that are just porn with 2d women, no lingerie photos because "it's not porn if they aren't completely naked". None of that.

Let's do it, user. Got an email.

I'm not sure about a few of these but this is a quality post, where did you get these from? Thanks man

>implying "depth" is more valuable than truth no wonder you're upset
Nolan Morris
This. I cringed in embarassment reading some of them.
It's like he's feeding his own ego with shallow quotes. It reads like a blogpost from a 12yo in an edgy phase
Austin Gutierrez
Not upset, just dissapointed. You don't need to write this down, most of them are common sense, even if it's "true" (some of them aren't btw)
Jaxson Torres

Haha ok
Which ones?
Common sense is a rarity in this day and age especially i.e. it's uncommon
I've always thought cringing to be a very juvenile thing.
Honestly could you add more substance to your posts. Explain what you disagree with and why.
I was hoping for something a bit better. Look how much loathing you have, why should somebody wanna talk advice from you? Successful people aren't so jaded and bitter.
You misinterpret a lot of the points, I dunno if intentionally or not.
You also blame all your problems on other people, which is unhealthy but I'm sure comforting.
Andrew Brown
biggest problem i have as a massive loser is how upset i get at people just having normal lives always thinking everyone is bragging about stuff and it making me even more miserable. dont know how o get over it

>30. Truth is simple, humans make it complex. I hope that was true, but it isn't >31. Actions>Thoughts; Reality>Imagination Sure >32. Paths to enlightenment are often demonised Depends on the path. What if they’re just as miserable as you but hide it better?
Jaxon Jones
The truth is this post is an emotionally driven, knee-jerk reaction. You clearly have problems, which in my opinion should be where you're invest your energy, instead of wasting it on your keyboard in frustration.
Elijah Rivera
Haha well... living the meme I guess.
Are you American?

How do I best overcome negative traits inherited from my parents? For example they both are pretty non social and mid tier hoarders. I see myself keeping a clean space so far but really do not know how to find social situations. I did pretty good in uni and had a gf for a while, but now that I'm not surrounded by people I feel myself reverting to being holed up in my house every weekend in an area where I don't know alot of people. Because of the hoarding I never asked people to hang out growing up. I was thinking about finding a church group or something but idk if that would make me happy.
Ryder Hall
If you want to keep clean make a schedule and really stick to it, it gets pretty easy over time. Also if there is a root issue with their hoarding you might not have it yourself.
If you want to meet people similar to yourself then go do things you like and talk to people around those scenes. Eventually you get to know them well enough to see what else they are into and maybe get to a bar or chill with a group.
Robert Jackson
>feel like quitting video games would be key to improving myself >it'd be a struggle to force myself to do something at first but if I get into the swing it my quality of life would increase >fucking terrified to do it how do I quit being a bitch?
Dylan Morgan
Yo, pick up martial arts as a hobby. Extra physical challenge and often a fun talking point.
Isaiah Cox
Start out slow. How much do you play? Cut down by an hour or a few to start with.
Carter Morgan
I actually don't even play that much anymore but I'm constantly thinking about games and spend a large portion of my freetime watching twitch streams
Henry Hughes
She wasn't a keeper. Honestly you tried to be funny and she obviously could tell you were joking. Even if she pretended not to, or she didn't want to, she knew you were joking.
Jackson Torres
>would be key what else is there to fix
what would you replace it with
Justin Myers
Do you ever walk or run, for example? It might suck at the start but force yourself to do one or both. Eventually you'll love it. Hell, you can still watch twitch stuff, I sure do.
Landon Rogers
>what else is there to fix my body/mental health which I'm working on hence why I'm on Jow Forums and /sig/ also personality but that's a whole nother devil
>what would you replace it with drawing is the thing I want to focus on the most right now but I struggle to get myself to do it I think it's because I'd rather do something easy and entertaining (i.e. video games/streams) I also want to start learning Japanese again since I gave up last time and I'd have plenty of free time to do it if I could quit being a bitch and quit the video games and shit
I've actually been thinking about picking up running recently I went for a run last week and barely made it less than half a mile before I felt like dying it felt really good though I'm gonna buy some running shoes and an armband soon and try to give it a real go
Matthew Butler
>it felt really good though It's great user. I just went for a 8km run myself. Well, I ran about 5.6 and walked the rest. Still feels amazing though. Give it hell man.
Jeremiah Gray
Seems like your problem is about not being disciplined enough. You have your goals defined, but you fail at commiting.
Start with the fundamentals. Go to some kind of group therapy on self-control, that should help a lot. Then start getting rid of small routines that you know are harmful. Then keep moving up until you have the confidence to give up vidya.
Logan Bennett
That does sound like the issue, a group therapy session sounds kind of intimidating though.
Easton Thomas
If you know what the problem is, and you know how to fix it, just do it!
Adam Wood
>group therapy sounds intimidating Do individual therapy then, but you need to do it in real life with real people. Group therapy is usually cheaper and odds are that you'll be more engaged (even if it's because of social pressure).
Charles Reyes
Guys, some recomendations for /sig/ podcasts? I have a really bad YouTube addiction, and want to replace that habit with listening to podcasts. So far I know about: >The minimalists >Making sense with Sam Harris >Philosophize this!
dude wow that s like so interesting wow i never thought of it like that wow
Isaiah Parker
>have a really bad YouTube addiction >want to replace that habit with listening to podcasts That's like saying you want to stop smoking and you'll start vaping instead
It makes sense in a way, but come on. Just quit completely
The only thing groundbreaking about the meditations is that you're literally reading the private diary of the, at the time, Emperor of the known world.
The actual philosophy in it is by the book stoicism.

I snagged an interview for a new job today. Can't wait to see how I'll fuck it up.
I had the same mentality so I sold my computer on Ebay and never looked back.
Nathaniel Martinez
Its just a customer service job but I need a job that's not as heavily affected by the business cycle as my current job is. However I'm also applying for an auditing company as I'm studying to be an accountant and auditing is one of the things I wanna specialise in.
Mason Jackson
Yet you still post here
Really keeps the noggin' joggin'
Brayden Butler
I have listened to it, but there seems to be a lot of "fluff", just talking about hollywood gossip and whatever comes to mind just to fill some time. I know that podcasts are inherently this way, but I would like to know about some more objective driven podcasts. >That's like saying you want to stop smoking and you'll start vaping instead That's exactly how I look at it, I tried going cold turkey, but then it backfired and got worse for like a week, I'm trying to do it gradually, keeping in mind that podcasts don't cause the same dopamine rush that finding a new interesting youtube video every 10 minutes does. Had heard about it in the chans, seems like fun, I'm gonna check it out tomorrow.
Lincoln Sanchez
Accounting’s pretty good. Many CFOs started out as accountants
Nathaniel Fisher
Yeah I wanna specialise in Management Accounting because it a lot less strict than Financial Accounting. But I wanna also learn how to do taxation and auditing because that's something I can do on the side.
