Sure user. You've already got a very important part down with the dream journal. But 90% of the time, reality checks are not going to be very helpful on their own. Reality checks should be for confirming that you're in a dream, not for your first line of questioning.

What helped me get lucid dreams very often was basically living in a state of high awareness to everything around me. This sounds exhausting, and it is at first, but over time it's second nature. You basically want to keep a mental note of everything that you're taking in with your 5 senses. This causes you to be very skeptical of reality. Keep a mental track of everything you can. How is my Tv casting a shadow? What's this taste in my mouth? Are those cars passing outside? Is that my cum jar leaking that I smell? What do my clothes feel like on my body?

You wanna be very skepical of reality. That way when you are in a dream, you notice something fucky, and THEN you reality check to confirm your suspicions. This is very hard at first, so don't burn yourself out trying to constantly be aware of everything, I still can't do that and I've been doing this for a long time. Just slowly build up to being aware of everything for long stretches of time during the day.

As for controlling your dreams while your lucid. It's a whole different beast. That will take some practice on your own. Just know that your dreams are at your mercy, if you want something to happen, just will it.
