Maintaining strength while aging

I just turned 25 and I'm currently the strongest I've ever been in my life so far. I'm wondering if I maintain my healthy diet and daily exercise well into my 50s and 60s will I end up losing around that time just from aging. I recently came across my dad's old fitness journals from when he was in his 40s and he was putting up way less weight than I am currently able to. Granted he didn't really start lifting until his late thirties but his stats are still fairly weak lol. Any older folks here who know how much strength you naturally lose just from getting older? When can you expect to start noticing a decline? My guess would be 50s is when it starts to drop off but I have no real idea.

I think its closer to 30 or 40. I rarely see 50 year olds with mobility and strength.

Whoops meant 'how much strength' will I end up losing around that time. I also don't ever drink except at weddings and New year's and only eat red meat if someone else gets it for me but I do smoke a cigarette every morning with my coffee.

I hope i look like this guy in 20 years, if i dont lose my mind first. Were all gonna make it

Any reason you think that other than just visual confirmation? I mean how many 50yr olds do you know that make weightlifting a priority in their lives?

with trt u can easily look fit and maintain 15% and lower well into 60s if genetics are ok

just start trt when your test levels get low from again

...

How old are ya m8? That dude's like 70. Sure he's well fit but in 20 yrs I'll be 55 and I'd like my face to look better than that

Im over 40, i was told ill be like benjamin buttons by my dr, plus i have muscle issues in my family. I decided to try to beat the odds and go crazy and start lifting, my wife was my gains goblin but recently she said she wants me to lift over 300, i only wanna do 270lbs, i love this board.

Very many. I live in south Florida. You are overestimating how long you maintain strength

...

Huh you're probably right. How dramatic do you think that drop off is do you think? Does it happen over a years time? Over several years? Like I'm 35 and can squat 4plates but then im 36 and can't put up three? I guess I'm wondering at how rapid and dramatic that decline is

Do you think do you think?? Sorry

Your test starts to drop in your mid/late 30s, so that's when you lose muscle mass and strength, and when fat accumulates easier.

That's literally from a test ad

Doesn't Ben button get younger as he ages? Wouldn't that be a good thing then? What did he mean by that?

something i read was talking where a man's str potential peaks around 35. im not sure of the details but use that as a barometer.

Fuck
Ill be a baby, user

Yea that's just one of the first pics that comes up in a search for 'jacked old man.' would you happen to know if that's a real pic? or is it just altered for the ad...?

>peaks around 35
That doesn't sound right. Why would all Olympians and high level athletes be in their 20s then?

>I'll be a baby
I know you're joking but I really don't understand what doc was actually trying to say with that comment

Ill forget how to breathe, walk. Probably in 15 years at the most

Oh I'm sorry to hear that user. Is it some kinda genetic thing?

Thats not true. In some winter sports there are guys medaling approaching 50

My dad always said after your mid to late 30's it's downhill as far as physical power, strength, and recovery

Im guessing skill sports though? Average for weightlifting is 27 which is admittedly older than I thought it would be.
