Just go to a yoga class, its pretty basic stuff. And if you can't do a pose or whatever you just sit there and nobody gives a shit. But you should be able to do all the stuff cus yoga is easy as fuck.

>He can't touch his toes

Starting stretch

I can't and the advice people give on stretching is even worse than lifting advice
try to look up information about hamstring stretches, the comments will always derail into 'your hamstrings are probably not tight at all. it's your hip flexors that need stretching'

DDP yoga good or bullshit?

Buy this book, don't do girl 'Yoga' it's not real. Actual Yoga was invented to train soldiers.

And it explains tendon anatomy and stuff.

first part- girl yoga is shit , true
second part- was made for soldiers- partialy true

there are literaly countless disciplines of yoga but I would suggest basic Hatha Yoga as it is made for overall physical well-being

Well, it was designed for and invented by men, many of whom were soldiers. Girl yoga is just random dynamic stretching really. The correct asanas and correct order actually don't change, you just go through the same 12 each time, advancing each one to the next level when you can. The intermediate and advanced ones build massive strength.

>plains tendon anatomy and stuff
you sure about that? looks more like a lot of instructual pictures and nonsense about chakra

Yoga teacher here. If you go to a studio, go to one that isn't just trophy wives and "hot yoga" bullshit. Find a studio that has some varied classes so you can try a couple of different things and settle into a class that is at your level (trust me: it's "beginner").

Post your city/state/province and I'll Google studios around there and make suggestions.

I can't touch my toes. If I try to stretch my hamstrings I feel pain behind my knee. Stretching my quads instead and doing some glute bridges actually increase my toe touching ROM.

Bend your knee slightly when you stretch your hamstring, just enough to relieve pressure on the knee. You should feel the stretch clearly in the rear of your thigh.

Ashtanga primary series 1 would be a good place to start. Series one is the same no matter where you go in the world and end up dropping in for a Ashtanga class. It has a pretty good mix of stretching and static poses that will build your core and help you get limber all around.

It’s always good to go in for a class since the instructor will be able to correct your form and also show you modified poses depending on your ability. Attached is series 1 that you could use to follow along at home.

It’s been a lifesaver for my sciatica.

imagine not having these retarded things on your block list. LOL! what an amateur

I unironically paid for one month of Headspace. I read good things about how it can be helpful for someone to learn and build the habit.

These suggestions are from 10 minutes of looking at webpages and years of experience with different kinds of studios and teachers.

Check out www nicoluce.com first. I can't see where he teaches; he may only do teacher training. I'd almost suggest welbalanced.me because it's Ashtanga and Yin (two great styles that compliment each other), but all I see are old ladies in the pictures; might be worth a try, though. yoga-path.ch
would be my third suggestion. It's an older guy, and sometimes they're great teachers.

Start there. If one seems to work for you keep going. If you go somewhere a couple of times and don't like the instructor, the practice, or the atmosphere, start going somewhere else. Pick a "hatha" class or an Ashtanga class. If there's an Iyengar studio around, those are often quite good, too.

Namaste, user.

Im going to a yoga class in 3 days, how do I maximize my chances of smelling braps?

God forbid a fitness book have instructional pictures right?

The first section of the book is all about physiology. There is only one page on chakras, they are a thing though. The main thing I disagree with in Yoga is vegeterianism, its just a hangover from Indian caste system where peasants were told eating meat was unhealthy to leave more for the rich.

ty anonon. can i do beginner yoga at home just for basic yoga-ness to do with the gf for overall flexbility and joint pain?

The problem with being a beginner in yoga and doing it alone is that it is difficult to see yourself unless you're surrounded by mirrors. What an instructor is good for is that they can come suggest modifications or changes to your poses to help you. You may be twisted, or maybe you are emphasizing one part over another. So I'd always suggest to a beginner to attend classes until you know exactly how to do the poses that you need to do. This will take some time, say a couple of yoga classes a week or more for 3 to 6 months. Then you could safely and correctly do a home practice.

If your gf really knows what she's doing, maybe she can help you modify poses and make sure you're doing them correctly. But I'd still suggest classes for a beginner.

You dont need to do anything. Everyone farts in a Yoga class. The real art is farting silently so noone knows it was you. You will smell girlfarts.
