I'm not necessarily doing keto but I am trying to be relatively low carb. I normally have buttered toast with my breakfast but I cut that out today.

Mainly I'm trying to stick to 1500kcal and get plenty of protein

Why? I do 1200 and don’t do keto, I have toast for breakfast with 1 egg and some avocado. Just stick to your deficit and lower your portion size.

Refined carbs, yes. But whole grains are low GI which makes you fuller for longer. So just have a slice of wholemeal bread

as said stick to the wholemeal or sweet potato if you do have carbs, extra GB points to have carbs before and after a workout for energy, its a bit bro science but works for me.

Eating makes you hungry. Eating only Lunch and Dinner makes it easier to stay below your calorie limit "naturally" (without counting). Also, having a longer time between meals lets your insulin drop.
