Hey Jow Forums, programmer here

What would you guys want in a perfect fitness app? My team bailed on me for a hackathon so now I get to make whatever I want.

However I don't want to just copy anything that already exists, so whats a unique feature/idea you'd love to have on your fitness app? What would you NOT want to have?

an app that gives me a gf

>What would you guys want in a perfect fitness app?
Nothing.

We're all pretty much fine without apps. Find a better hobby to make an app about or better yet get a real job.

where did you find that picture of me ?

Don't really use any nor need it however I keep track of my lifts and note certain problems that I have with my technique and keep track of those issues aswell so make sure to have that and make it display the progress in some nice graphs
And keep us updated for God's sake

This. Fucking IT dweebs, can't even breathe anymore unless an app tells them how and when

An app where you can track how much of my feces I force you to eat.

You on the left shoulder or the right one?

So maybe before each workout it shows you a random motivational image such as in the OP?

Programmers get all the money and pussy ;)

Don't try to make the perfect fitness app. I tried to make one that I personally wanted and realized I was trying to cram in way too much, so it couldn't really be connected in a coherent way. Just pick one thing and do it well.

Logo needs to be a dick, also the more dicks the better OP.

I'd love to add a nice long term progress graph function. Thats a good idea, thanks!

Yeah that makes sense. Now I'm thinking just a progress/motivational system so the user is less inclined to skip workouts etc.

on ur mom

a fitness app that combines research on nutrition and fitness (how they work with each other), protips on form & grip etc., posture correcting exercises, and proper deloading cycles, categorized by fitness goals such as athleticism, strength, size, fat loss, etc. would be prime.
this information exists but it can be hard to keep track of what advice is relevant to your goals. a lot of people give up on fitness because the "contradictory" advice they hear from all different kinds of people have them confused on what to do.
having a resource to turn to that lays out a handful of tried & true plans to achieve a SPECIFIC goal that is all encompassing would be super clutch for the beginner-intermediate lifter.

I just use vim+git. Can't improve on that shit

/thread

Be able to choose from different recommended routines (eg SL, SS, PPL, Greyskull, 531 etc) and the ability to make your own
Notes. None of my apps let me write notes like I could in excel
A button for motivation with various motivational images from this cursed site
A graph on which you can edit and delete your lifts
Instruction images, timer, add friends to see their routines

who dis?

An app that releases me from the torment

dont make it on android, apple users are the only ones dumb enough to pay for fitness app

>pay for app

Nah they don't need revenue. Just users and an endless stream of investors.

NAME!!!

FitNotes marks your sets with cup/trophy whenever you hit a PR but only for weight and not for reps.
It's annoying af. Otherwise it's a nice app. You can leave notes on each set too.

Definitely gonna make it so the user can search tried and true workouts based on what they're looking for, with a little info section when you tap on a certain lift (aka proper form..)

Yeah motivation is key. I think a random motivational image and maybe a random quote overlayed on the bottom? Not sure how I want to implement this. A graph would help with motivation as you see your lifts going up every week. Notes would be interesting, will be keeping that in mind. Thanks!

I'm an emacs person myself

Not really gonna charge money or put ads, at least not until I'm putting serious time/money into it

Good one mate lol

Apps are 2014, the future is YouTube channels.

Why would you need an app when you can use pencil and paper?

Going off what this user has said, please make an app for macrophotography that lets me easily calculate the appropriate light needed for a subject at a given distance, and the appropriate f-stop for my selected shutter speed.
I suspect you could create one for the play store in a week, as the GUI would be super simple. I have an iphone, though, so please put it on the app(lication) store, senpai~

Don't make Jow Forumsizens your target market dude. Sell some stupid shit to normies instead and make some actual money by telling idiots exactly what they want to hear and giving them another platform to talk about themselves. Take a normal fitness app and add:

1. Profiles, badges, the ability to add friends etc.
2. Pop-up body positivity messages.
3. Notifications about what treats they've "earned" by exercising moderately

I'm aiming for something I can use myself honestly. I don't mind if normies don't like it because it tells them what they need, not what they want. The ability to add friends could be cool if you're gonna workout as a group

Attached: 1552327819544.jpg (747x1328, 105K)

An app where you post your body pics to a map and you can see who in your town is more ripped. It's also informally Grindr.

>2. Pop-up body positivity messages.
Hell no. Are you stupid?

>3. Notifications about what treats they've "earned" by exercising moderately

Thats sound nice.

So my idea.
Copy scooby site. You can Put in your wheigt your training intensity and so on and the app gives your cal intake for mass/cut. It also shows you some recipes. You can generate a weekly mealplane and a shopping list for the stuff. and to the earned part. The app shows you randomly stuff like "you earned a pizza" the calories are allredy counted in the mealplane so its realy for "free". Maybe make somthing like "Points" which you can buy Pizza (a point is at the end just X minutes training or the caloric defizit from the mealplan.
Ah and importtant. A dictonary for Jow Forums stuff, like "plate" and it opens a link to a site.

A nutrition app built for gaining weight. Most people want to lose weight, so that is what most apps are geared towards. I want to gain and not get bullied for going over my calorie limit for the day.

Sauce on this guy? He's aesthetic as fuck

Apps are cancer. Go away.

Post more sexy cops

A good fucking data policy.
Holy shit so many of the fitness and food tracking apps have the list shady Chinese backdoor US NSA ass, non GDPR complying policies, it's bullshit.
OP please be better than the rest. I don't mind an extra ad or two if it means my data is safe.

I unironically want an app that incorporates the gym you work out st somehow so i can find gym bros because im too autistic to go talk to people

same man, I'd hate for the chinese to know how much I dl on a tuesday, urks the shit outta me

I'm good with pen and paper, thanks.

an app that educates people on the dangers of meme diets and fads and tells them the cold hard truth:

calories in calories out

"calories in" would be a cool fitness app name

have it remind people daily that doing extreme/limiting diets like keto or worse /fast/ing on snake juice is as close to down syndrome as an unaflicted human can get

also remind them that brands that are built on marketing gimmicks like organic, gluten-free, vegan, "chemical free" etc should be avoided and to do business with honest companies

Attached: 1543600010384.png (466x413, 473K)

> he thinks giving an app data access means giving access to that app's data only
>he thinks the word is 'urks'
welp

>hey guys give me a unique idea for a fitness app
build one that transports you 10years into the last when this was a viable market

Don't you have to pick up some kids from soccer practice, clarice?

>can't reverse search an image
are you retarded or just plain retarded?

Attached: full-metal-jacket-hed.jpg (1100x618, 29K)

>CICO drones just can't stop raging about science disproving their government mandated failed diet plan

>too retarded to do a reverse image search yourself to see that it doesnt turn up any useful results.

We're getting meta lvls of retarded here.

I want an app that I can take pictures of random gym twinks and it shows me what they would look like as traps

FOSS LICENSED UNDER BSD ABLE TO RUN SIMULTANEOUSLY ON LINUX AND ANDROID PROGRAMMED IN C FOR BEST SPEEDS SHOULD NOT SPY ON YOU DO NOT FALL TO THE NSA FBI CIA OR OTHER GLOWING NIGGERS

Four tracks: percussion, bass, mid, high hats. Cycle through rhythms and pads, minute by minute or so. User can slide level on any channel. The unit figures out BPM to match your cadence.

I would buy that.

1. simplicity, with optional complexity. For example, allow the app to just track a routine, but add options for logging resting time and so on.
2. I don't want it to be my fitness pal v0.00001
3. An optional way to connect with others using the app (chat, etc).

>Now I'm thinking just a progress/motivational system

If you want to make something like that, don't make it specific to fitness. Do something like a "regular checkin app", where you set goals for yourself, send out messages to friends about your goals or tasks and tell them that you'd like them to check in on you every once in a while where, if you're not making some stated progress towards a goal or task, you'll do something for them.

The app could be used in two ways:
1. To have social pressure to perform tasks (lose weight, eat healthier, etc.) where, if you fail to perform AND if your friends can be bothered to check in on your performance, you owe them something.
2. To gain social support for something else going on in your life. For example, if you are suffering from depression, you could have friends check in on how you're doing, where if you're not doing so great the "you'll do something for them" part becomes "lets go get coffee". This could also be something along the lines of "my family member has cancer" and the tasks end up being all the extra shit that needs to be taken care of when somebody has cancer, where the "you'll do something for them" part becomes more of a "please come help us do these things".

I'm sure people could use this in any other number of ways that I haven't thought of, but I'm sure a lot of people would eat it up.

currently I record my lifts in the default notes app on my phone, when I get home I plug it into google sheets.
I have formulas setup that track my lifts/weight at the start of the month and compare it to what I finished with and tell me what my gains, or lack thereof, were.
if you start adding anything other than routine and tracking it will become bloated.
no app can give good health or lifestyle advice.

>thinks a 10 second sweep to confrim that there is no wikipedia page or pornhub account means she doesnt exist

You do realize you need to consult the psychologists freemium and gambling apps rely on to drive profits, right?
It's kind of noble, in a sense, to take advantage of all the ways developed to keep users wasting money, turn them on their head and use them to push people to improve themselves.
