No worries, a lot of people join and ask some astounding things. Basically, you mine for 32 gold ingots, then do /t new or you can join a town after someone invites you, it'll tell you how to accept in chat. If you make a town don't forget to make a chest with a sign on it, in your town, and on the top line of that sign put '[TownVault]' to put money into your town. To claim more land for your town it's 16 gold per chunk, and is done with /t claim. The admins and some players are really nice and will help you if you ever need it.
