SS is a meme the same way that GOMAD Is a meme in that if you do what's recommended artistically without anything else you're going to end up like that guy who thought GOMAD meant you ONLY drank a gallon of milk every day.

It's a good basic program to get people started quickly and so long as they use it to learn and they understand what it's about they can either move onto a different program that will work better for them long term or they can move onto SS alongside other thing. SS really shoudn't be done long term, or at the very least not without isolations and shit like that to supplement it and fill in the gaps that it can leave behind for a lot of people.

The problem isn't that SS is a meme, the problem is that people expect a program that is literally called "Starting Strength" to be anything more than an introductory program that you're supposed to transition from or augment as you gain strength and confidence with weight training.

Starting Strength is fine for building strength as a beginner, but it will lead to imbalances (I.E. it won't be good for aesthetics for the average person) long term.

Last time I checked the studies that disprove that were heavily biased, if I recall correctly the people they sampled were already healthy low cholesterol fit males, that after the test, their cholesterol levels barely raised if any, it would be interesting in reading a study when the test subjects are your average joes with not so perfect cholesterol from the start.
Im only saying it because it might not be the best idea for some people who starts in their path to fitness to start eating 4+ whole eggs a day without more extensive research thats not funded by the egg industry.

Did you read my post? My entire argument is that SS is fine as a program so long as you use it as a Starting Strength program. That is to say, using your vernacular, you tell noobs to use it with the caveat that they should only use it until they build some core muscle group strength up and get comfortable with proper lifting at which point you either recommend that they find something else or supplement it.

Starting Strength is for STARTING Strength. I.E. STARTING
