Also, I liked him in Stranger Than Fiction. Though he always did seem VERY limited in scope of character, I kind of took that as granted from his SNL lineage. SNL actors of the late 20th/early 21st all seem to very niche (almost by design). Will Farrell wasn't any exception. He got off on being a pop success for normie comedy for people who didn't like to dig too deep into social commentary. On his own, as an actor, the well ran shallow and dry rather quick.

You know what's really sad about Elf? I've fucked A LOT of single moms. A LOT. I'm really ashamed to admit this because I'm not particularly good looking and quite a few of them were WAY above my pay grade. But you know what the BIGGEST (and saddest) common factor between ALL of those hookups was? At some point, I would be sitting with their kid, watching Elf. Because, especially around the holidays, Elf was a highly relatable movie with Will Farrel that both children and adults could somewhat laugh at. Sometimes the laughs were earnest. Most times they were forced. Zoe Dechanel is an illuminati whore. And it's always tough walking out on a single mom after watching Elf with her 7 year old kid who just wants a father figure to sit and chill with.
