Superfood thread

What kind of antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and other overlooked micros are in your diet, Jow Forums?
Personally, I'm big into phytonutrient-rich berries, turmeric + black pepper, and ginger.

Cinnamon is a god tier spice. Lowers blood sugar, increases insulin resistivity, and tastes fucking awesome in pretty much anything.

I've been drinking more herbal drinks lately.

White tea, hibiscus, greek mountain tea (ironwort), camomile, mugwort, etc. Lots of good stuff leaks out of plants when you steep them. Hibiscus is especially nice as a cold drink in the summer, has more antioxidant potential than tea, and helps lower blood pressure.

Hibiscus sweet tea is the nectar of the Gods

Cinnamon top tier. I grind up ginger, cinnamon, turmeric and add them to my daily mashed sweet potatoes (plus almond milk in a blender for smoothest of spuds). Tastes like it should be dessert but actually turns you into a god.

>increases insulin resistivity
you mean increase insulin sensitivity, increasing insulin resistance is bad

Based

>anti-immataory
It's a meme. Inflammation is a symptom, not the cause. With anti-inflammatories you're just treating the symptoms while leaving the underlying problem intact.

This, but real cinnamon, most cinnamon you get is a completely different plant that not nearly as healthy, but since both are known as cinnamon they can just sell it as the real stuff.

Do you use the ground spices or fresh grated cinnamon/ginger/turmeric? Also do you add any butter to the mashed sweets? Any honey?

Superfood is a bullshit clickbait momscience term made up to sell you shit

Insulin is the stuff that allows your body to process sugar and carbs, right?

Your cells have locked doors. Insulin is the key to those doors to allow sugar in.

Superfoods don’t exist fag just eat steak and eggs

> Inflammation is a symptom, not the cause
What does that matter? It's the symptom that's bad for you, so treating that is good.

>imply-ing

Superfoods are well-balanced foods like oats, beans, and broccoli which have all macronutrients with addition to fiber and vitamins

Is maca a meme? I wanted to order Black maca supplement pills off of ebay. Does it actually do anything? Any increase in lifts/recovery/energy/libido?

cringe

If you were to eat a couple spoons of peanut butter thats 100% everyday you would increase your metabolism, and lower your risk of all risk disease by almost half.
If you start adding in more things like greens, cruciferous greens, and sweet potatoes your chances of premature death are increibly low

that's right goy, now eat your BigMac

>Lots of good stuff leaks out of plants when you steep them.
Truth.
I mix other plants with tea, in a big pot that I top up with more water and different leaves throughout the day.
>green tea

Turmeric might actually be anti-androgenic, needs more research.

>Curcumin derivatives inhibit testicular 17beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 3

>Growth suppression of hamster flank organs by topical application of catechins, alizarin, curcumin, and myristoleic acid

It is not for fucks sake. Inflammation is to get the attention of your immune system in a specific area. Removing inflammation would cause the problem to persist. Treat the underlying thing that causes the chronic problem.

Liver is actually toxic in high amounts.

bump

correct
thats more or less a meme

The immune system tends to overreact to things. People with peanut allergies for example don't die because peanuts are dangerous, it's their immune system overreacting to the peanut protein. Chronic inflammation aids in the development of a lot of diseases as well, so eating foods that help quell inflammation can help to prevent things like heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, etc

Both of you are right Tbh, inflammation = intermittent localized hypoxia, swelling etc., but simply using anti-inflammatories (even worse if immunosurpressive (see: fish oil fiasco)) does not actually solve the issue and the inflammatory state will return again and again.

anti inflammatory nutrients and drugs stunt muscle growth/recovery for example
inflammation is necessary for good function of the body, systemic chronic inflammation though is bad, on ly posasible with an underlying se rious issue like diabetes or obesity and excess cell energy status

vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/vitamin-a-toxicosis-in-dogs
"Vitamin A toxicity is usually caused by eating too much organ meat, especially liver, which contains high levels of vitamin A, or by consuming supplements containing high levels of cod liver oil. There seems to be considerable variability in how susceptible individual dogs are to this problem. "

this is in dogs, now imagine how it is in humans, who are less adapted to getting rid of excess retinol
liver isn't healthy, it should at best be eaten once a week(which is pathetic), that's not a superfood, that's a fucking supplement, you can't derive much nutrition from it without getting copper or vitamin A toxicity and vitamin D/K deficiencies .
Look up nutrient guidelines of lions and tiger stoo, wake up, they can't b e fed too much liver either or they get fucking rickets and vitamin K/D deficiencies.

only if you eat the skin as well

why is it pathetic

All parts of the animal should be eaten
