Planet fitness

I'd like to talk about the hate this place gets for a second. Is it justified? The one I belong to has very easy going staff that don't enforce the "lunk" nonsense. Even though they may not have everything a regular gym has, is it still viable for the price? ($10 p month)

Idk bro. You must have a pretty shit routine if you don't even use a barbell...

Keeps the poor filthy fat ingrate peasants out of my gym

Here's a handy guide for deciding whether or not you should go to planet fitness:

1-Am I poor? If yes, go to planet fitness.

Blink has memberships starting at $10 a month. The one by me has 4 racks, 3 benches and like 7 adjustable benches in the dumbbell section. Not sure if they're nationwide but there's plenty in NY

This is written like a shill. If youre ok with it then just fucking go. You dont need validation.

> no critics
> no judgment

no gyms have this. I've been to commercial gyms, meathead gyms, crossfit gyms, senior citizen YMCA type places...there's nobody in there shaming anyone or making fun of them. This is all fear-mongering bullshit.

This was my deciding factor. It's not much, but it's better than nothing

Germanbros, what would be the german equivalent of Planet Fitness?

This, Planet Fitness preys on people that are scared to workout. I've gone to several gyms and have never been mocked when doing something for the first time or with light weight. PF gets ya before you realize that there are similarly priced gyms with actual barbells in them.

And now they're pushing this idea of "gymtimidation" and it's gaining traction. Guess what? Doing something new the first few times is fucking scary and intimidating

> cooking a new recipe
> meeting a girl's parents
> giving a presentation
> interviewing for a new job
> running a 5k

Bravery is not the fucking absence of fear, it's acknowledging that you're afraid and going and doing it anyway. These people not to be given a healthy dose of testicles, not pizza and sugar coated fluff about trying your best.

But wouldn't that actually scare those people? I mean they would get subtly reminded that this judging and criticism could happen, right?

Planet fitness is genius. They sell a low cost gym membership to people that wont even use the gym.

Imagine for a second you are a power lifting gym and your capacity is 100 people in the building. you memberships are 20$ and the people who come to you gym come without fail 6-7 days a week. this means you will eventually have a cap of memberships. Sure you can ask people to come at different times (like not everyone come at 5 please) but there is a cap maybe 300-400..

Now imagine you are planet fitness. Right off the bat your 'active' member come 1-3 times a week. This already allows you to have a much higher membership cap because even with a (for the sake of simplicity) 100 person building capacity and 1000 members you will never even see more that 25 of those people at a time. Now couple this with people that don't come at all anymore. but are too lazy or dumb to cancel their 10$ a month membership.

Yeah it's genius on a business POV. But on a costumer POV it's a real shitty place for anyone who is a little serious about their trainnings.

I agree with you 1000%. PF is another of the numerous examples of what is flawed whit our society.

The only good thing that pf does is keep the people that go there out of real gyms

"Welcome to the Planet Fitness Containment Zone. Please pick up your complimentary electric scooter and large pizza at the front desk."

I feel a greentext coming on

They have "Pizza Mondays".

Not even too lazy or dumb to cancel. Usually you have to come in to cancel, so imagine your a fat tie who got the membership on a whim and never went, now you have to go in and admit your failures and cancel your membership in person. I can imagine it would be embarrassing. Most people at my gym never really touch a barbell. I’ve never seen the main pt there get anyone using a barbell. If you have low expectations and just want to get some sort of activity in planet fitness is pretty good. There are locations everywhere and you will be surrounded by people in the same sort of shape as you so you don’t have to feel bad about what shape you are in.

>$10/mo gym
Holy shit, the cheapest over here is 20 eur/mo, but you have to sign a contract for 12 months (who subscribes to a gym by the way?).
All the other places charge upwards of 40 eur/mo. I want to live where you live. I barely scraped together some cash for a dumbbell.

Have you tried not being poor?
