is it predicted by looking at if the parents are fat lazy fucks?

You can't even link the article?

Kids learn shitty habits from their parents.
Do you even read the articles you base your views on?

They were initially investigating whether obesity risk could be assessed using genetic profiles, but the test they developed based on common genetic variations failed to make accurate predictions. Instead, they found that non-genetic information available at the time of birth was enough to predict which children would become obese.

I am retarded

Genetics probably defines whether someone is prone to eating a lot or not. CICO still applies. I think there might be other reasons why some people are more prone to getting fat than others. When I eat a lot of fatty food, I notice that my shit floats in the toilet rather than sinking, which means that a decent amount of fat is actually expelled out of my body rather than being consumed. Needless to say, I'm a skelly, and that might be because my body doesn't use all the food as efficiently as it could. The calorie values of Carbs, Protein and Fat (4, 4, 9), are arbitrarily defined, probably as the median of some kind of normal distribution. Most likely some people "gain" more calories from those sources than others, depending on how efficient their digestion is. Maybe endomorphs (who evolved to "save" calories to prevent dying from starvation in cold winters) can actually get a lot more calories per gram of a nutrient than ectomorphs that just hunted their food whenver they needed. So this kind of invalidates CICO, because 100g of food might contribute to 300 calories in an ectomorph and 500 calories in an endomorph...

Woah, the psychology of obesity is heritable like every other trait.

Someone already pointed out what the article actual says. It's also important to remember not to get any scientific information from pop Sci sources. Read the actual research. Journalists have a tendency to overstate the results and write headlines that don't accurately reflect the content of the research.

Uh no as soon as I saw the headline I shitposted it here to stir the pot

Why do people think behavior disproves CICO? It's th e laws of thermodynamics. If you absorb more calories than you expend, it has to get stored somehow. If you expend more calories than you absorb, it has to come from somewhere.

Someone's brain being fucked up so they have less impulse control and stuff their faces with excess food and get fat still abides by CICO.

based

It doesn't invalidate it at all one person's cals in is higher than the other person's. There is a reason a calculator is just a baseline and you have to adjust your intake based on your weight change.

>thinks putting “laws of thermodynamics” in post makes based

Quit shilling this shit. Yeah, there is literally a measurable amount of energy ingested, but things get complicated after that. Do people that post that even know these “laws of thermodynamics?” The calories are only usable as energy of your body has the means to utilize or store them. Take some DNP, calories hijacked, expended as heat. Get mono, calories pass unused as you waste away. Take diuretics, shit water, waste calories.

Do people here not try and get an estimate of their usual metabolism via weight change or?

DId not read the article, but uncontrolled diabetes during preagnacy can already fuck up the development of the pancreas. That makes it more likely for the child to later develop obesity/diabetes.

Add the shitty lifestyle of fatfuck parents and the child has bad chances to escape being a fatfuck
