I can tell you first hand that fasting for 5 days will drop you anywhere from 5-10 pounds of fat. The scale will likely say 20-25, but that's mostly water. The effects are not just mental. You also feel better afterwards because of a process called autophagy. That's where your body consumes damaged, or dead cells for fuel, first, and replaces them with healthy ones.

You all should do some research before you talk shit. I used to think it was retarded too, but then I looked into it, and it is 100% the best diet for people with a body fat percentage higher than 15.

The argument I and others make is that CICO is frequently so complicated in execution that it's better practice to use a "hormones first" approach in conjunction, especially considering that a majority of the adult population likely already has issues with hyperinsulinemia. This means fasting and/or carbohydrate restriction, the degree to which either/both are necessary depends on the individual case.

Sure, a young Jow Forumsizen who works out often will likely do fine with a CICO model, but anyone having trouble losing weight despite intake and activity level would do well to adopt the approach I described. I tried fasting to cut. Worked fine the first day but I woke up the next and my heart was pounding and racing. It didn't calm for a solid hour. Didn't want to continue after experiencing that. Normal cutting is easier I guess.

You need to ease into it, try doing something like IF/OMAD first. After a while I found ADF to be incredibly easy.
