Intermittent Fasting

is it a meme? I go to sleep at 00:00 and wake up at 8:00 everyday, it will be easy for me to get the 16/8 fasting/eating window.
I kinda close to 1/2/3/4, and I look like I lift, but I think Im at something like 14-13% bf and I want visible abs for the summer.
until now I was just eating everything I wanted, while keeping a high protein intake, thats why I dont want to start counting meals and calories

If you don't already have visible abs, you are not at 13-14%

You don’t have to count calories but you have to at least be aware of the ballpark range of what you’re eating or else intermittent fasting isn’t going to help you. Also push for at least 18 hours. 16 is hardly fasting.

Intermittent fasting for less than 24 hours is a “meme” in the sense that it doesn’t do anything magic, but it can reduce total calories because you eat less. It works for many people.

Intermittent or sporadic fasting for 24 hours or more puts you in ketosis, which is great.

Can't you be in Ketosis before the 24 hour mark?

ketosis begins when your liver is depleted of glycogen.
this usually takes ~24 hours in adapted individuals.

I just don't eat one day out of the week, that works for me.

Anecdotal, but I just feel better mentally when I do IF - only fasting til 12 but might ramp it up if I can.
Haven't lifted since 2016 though :X

Not magic in regards to weight loss but it have other health benefits because it allows your digestive system to rest.

See Some people are less and you can deplete glycogen faster with exercise, but generally if you IF for less than 24 hours you’re spending most of that time on glycogen.

I’m not denying the possibility of other benefits. But I think the main benefit is that it makes calorie cutting easier. When I’m on a cut I usually skip breakfast and feel pretty good.

Fasting tactics are MEMES. Just fucking eat less, it dosent matter when you eat. You will lose weight.

should i do IF if i'm already underweight?it's nice only having to eat like once or twice a day but it's hard to predict adequate macros. i ate like 3k calories yesterday & i'm still fucking hungry

I've been doing 16:8-22:2 IF consistently since November. Haven't tried anything longer.
