Best Starter Gyms?

I want to get into lifting but I'm not sure what gym is right for me. There's a Planet Fitness nearby and I want to try it because it's close and cheap but I've heard some bad things? My friend recommended me Arnold's Blueprint to Mass and that's what I intend to follow, any advice for what gym I should try?

its not the quality of the tool but the skill of the craftsman

Fuck Planet Fitness, you'd be better off using a playground for calisthenics

Planet Fitness is a franchise chain, so it really depends on the owner. At the very least, they'll have the bare minimum a newbie needs for dirt cheap.

You've made your point. But what would be a better alternative? My other options are LA Fitness, Crunch, Blink and Retro fitness. What would you recommend?

There are a few but they are not somewhat farther apart them my given options. They require "going the extra mile"

Home gym

I can't afford that

WELL, planet fitness has dumbbells from what i have heard, and dumbbells are suitable substitutes for barbell training.

I would go and check them out and make sure the dumbbells go up to 100lbs each before you join, otherwise you'll gain enough strength to make lifting there useless in a month or 2.

Looking at this "arnold strength blueprint" schedule, most of this stuff looks possible with dumbless.
Dumbbell press instead of bench press, dumbbell rows instead of barbell rows (These are hernia makers, look up how to do them properly), overhead press with dumbbells, there are a million different kinds of curls for dumbbells, goblet squats, you can even dead lift the heavier dumbells, or just hop on the hyperextension machine for your GLUTES and lower back.

You can probably do this routine at a planet fitness, just don't be mad if they kick you out for gaining some strength.

I just want to make sure it would even be possible in a PF. I'll definitely keep that in mind and see myself. If not that, I'll look elsewhere. Thank you based user bro.

We're all gonna make it.

YMCA's tend to have good facilities and a good variety of equipment and not too pricy. They usually have a pool as well so you can get the BEST FORM OF CARDIO in.

I'm going to a gym primarily to use Bulk Up though. But I'll definitely check out YMCA myself.
