I dunno, user. My mom yelled at me and hit me when I was a kid, and I didn't listen to her too much. Even when I did, it was out of annoyance or fear rather than respect for authority. My father, on the other hand, never did those things, and I still respect him for it to this day.

The problem with carrer women is that they spend their youth, which is tied to their fertility and look, which is then their most valuable commodity in dating scene, to acquire status and money, a thing to which many men don't care seek in women. Sure, being a shopping whore that spends her every penny is undersireable, but as long as the woman can generally manage money to many men it doesn't matter how wealthy she is, so trading their looks and fertile years for money men don't want from them doesn't do them any favours. The problem with getting status for women is that they generally date up only, meaning that they want men they deem same or of higher status themselves, meaning the more status they acquire the lower their dating pool is and the men who would desire woman with money or status would likely be ones that don't have either of those themselves, making them undesireable partner for the woman. The same doesn't apply in reverse that much.
