225lbs
100lb db 3x5

body weight: 156 lbs.
dumbells: 100 lbs.

185lbs

90x8 dumb bells

76kg/167lb bw
50kg/110lb db press, 3~5x8

50kg is the heaviest my gym goes unfortunately.

165lb
60 lb dumbbell's x 8
it's shit but making progress

How are dumbbell presses better than barbell? (I literally do not know why)

6’3, i weigh 155lbs
I can barely manage 45lbs on each arm
Usually so 10x4

They’re not
By using dumbbells you require more help from your stabilizing muscles meaning you lift less than you would on a barbell

I'm guessing it forces each arm to do individual work, whereas with a barbell you can get away with one arm being stronger. I'm not sure and I'd only use it as an additional exercise personally, the traditional OHP is what I'd prefer to focus on.

It uses more muscles
Some people can get a nicer stretch/range of motion
You don't need a spotter (why I do it)

nah dummbells are better imo

I only have 55s. So i do 3 sets of 10. Dont know AMRAP # on first set. Never tried it.
185lbs

When your non jerking off arm fails terribly at keeping up with dumbells you wont get away with shit

Greetings my DYEL brother. Same body weight, at 55lbs for 8 reps. We've got a lot of work to do still, but I feel like I've come a long way from 20lbs when I started.

227lbs

5x10 with 100s on incline, haven't been to a gym with higher for months.

Treat it like an accessory to your barbell bench, great for helping you break plateaus

Oh, i do this on incline.

>bunch of weak dyels scared to use the barbell

come on.

150lbs

60s for 8-12 right now

DAMN RIGHT

Attached: 1498584814209.jpg (853x468, 225K)

140lbs
75lbs db 3x5
Could barely manage 55lbs a few months back. I'm really proud of my progress

100s since that’s the highest my uni gym goes
It’s a decent enough accessory to do after BB bench for a nice pump

weight 215 lbs

just did the 85s on flat for 9

Weigh 197.

Usually do 120's for 3 sets of 8

Our whole generation jerks off lefty because our right hand is on the mouse.

260 lbs
DB: 130 x 5 is my best but I don't really db press

what's a good weight for a 1 handed overhead press?

what's 100lbs of dumbell weight in barbell weight?

300
2 25 pounds for like 75 reps
i need bigger ones

Holy mother of projections

240 pounds
3 sets of 8 reps with 90 pound dumbbells on each side.

Dumbell work is vastly superior to barbell for the following reasons:

- Greater range of motion

- Develop balanced strength on each side of the body independently. Strictly barbell work leads to muscle imbalances, since one side will inevitably be doing slightly more work than the other leading to over/under-development which could lead to injury and asymmetry.

- Dumbbell work will absolutely increase your strength with a barbell.

- Dumbbell work recruits much more musculature and ancillary stabilizer muscles leading to more activation and more proportioned development.

Based

Barbells blown the fuck out

Nice quints.

Does anyone have tips/epiphanies they had for this exercise when they first started? I'm a DYEL and I can't make my chest sore for dumbbell presses. My dumbass arms always give out before my chest does.

I've been trying hard to keep my shoulders back, mild arch, etc.

Were there any small changes to your form that dramatically improved this for you?

dare i say, based?

Do weighted dips to strengthen your arms then, maybe you’re just not proportional. Apart from that you really just have to get used to the movement, if you haven’t been lifting for long your body hasn’t really developed all the stabilizing musculature as well so that may make it harder to keep good balance during the movement and makes it relatively harder on your arms

working out about 2 months now
weight 135
50lb for 8

>Absolute DYELfag but manage to adds 5 lbs to my dumbbell press every week (on each sidr obviously)
>Gym is missing one dumbbell so if I want to progress I'll need to add 20 lbs at once

Guess this is where I'll plateau

200 lbs
the highest my gym has is 50lb dumbbells, so I just managed to do extremely high reps with the ones that are there

25 lb each arm. 6'5 162lb. Could do 30 but have no money to buy them.

Use elastic bands on wheyghts, you can increase your power that whey. Do slower sets, more volume. There are plenty of wheys to increase your strenght besides adding more wheyght.

Also drink whey.

165 lbs

DB's 105's for 8

What's the best dumbbell exercise for triceps and shoulders? So many goddamn muscles in the shoulders I can't tell what's good.

Attached: helper thumbs up question.png (720x644, 47K)

Skinnyfat here. Could only curl 15 lb dumbbells a month ago. Now I can do 20 reps with 25 lb dumbbells. Hoping to move onto the 30 lb dumbbells before June. The max my work gym has is 50 lb so after I hit that in a few months, I’m getting a real gym membership.

100lbs retard

Kek

Most I've done is 10*50kg (each hand) due to my gym only going to 50kg.

I was travelling once and went to another gym, i did 4*54kg, i feel i could of done a bit more though

Lower rest time, increase reps, increase sets
Pick one

Shoulders dumbell lateral raises and OHP,
Triceps close grip bench press and skullcrushers

160lbs
55lbsx10
60lbsx10
65lbsx8

240lbs.

100lbs for 10.
110lbs for 7.

Do you feel like using different dumbbells messes with your bench? My gym also only goes up to 50kg and I can do that for 7 but I tried 48kg in another gym and I could do only 4.

I go to anytime fitness so all the weights are the same brand. I know what you mean though and i agree, the dumbells which are the little plates put together seems heavier for some reason

I found the markings on the plates to often be wrong, I have a pair of dumbbells which are marked as 20kg but I weighed them and they're actually 24. And my friend also has some which are supposedly 20kg that I literally can't do 1 rep with, and mine and his dumbbells are also massively inconsistent with those at the gym

I guess buying cheap equipment comes at a cost

A solid 335 lbs
I do 60lb DBs 2x10

Attached: 1555188718292.jpg (4032x2268, 2.7M)

according to most anons, Barbell to Dumbbell is around the ration of
1 : 0.8-0.75 1RM
In theory, since you won't 1RM Dumbbells but mostly in the 3-5 rep region if you go heavy.

Eg.
I bench 115Kg Barbell 1-2 reps and Dumbbell 40kg (2x40=80kg) 3-4 reps.
which translates to 70% on dumbbels

My 10rm on dumbbell bench is 45kg (90kg total).
That works out as a 121kg (total) 1rm.

However, my barbell 1rm is 120kg.

How do I get heavy dumbbells into position for bench?

Deadlift them up, set them on your knees while siting down. Now lie backwards, dumbbells parallel to body, twist the dumbbells to horizontal position and then push them upwards to lockout.

Knee them up

Also, getting dumbbells up initially will be second nature if you do it enough. I regularly bench 50kg dumbbells and getting the weight in position is the least difficult part.

Also, has anyone ever had their back crack when getting the weight into position? Sometimes I'll lay back and feel this crunch along my spine. Not painful at all, just feels like the spine is decompressing.

Never thought about deadlifting them up. Always tried to hammer curl them to my knees.

Thanks friend

Yeah, I used to do the hammer curl method when I started lifting. Gave me elbow issues.
Glad that I could help.

DB are better than BB in literally all exercises because it activates far more muscles and you will never develop any imbalanced between your dominate/non-dominate sides.

If you forced someone to just do BB or DB you would want to do DB, otherwise you would look dyel forever.

>some random at my gym always did one arm DB presses after doing his incline/flat DB presses
>started copying him
>those gains
Why did no one tell me how good this is.

I'm up to 60kg/132lbs press

5'8, 70kg/154lbs

Is it good?

>By using dumbbells you require more help from your stabilizing muscles meaning you lift less than you would on a barbell
That doesnt mean its worse, it means its better. When we switch to a bar bell its just fine too

>Also, has anyone ever had their back crack when getting the weight into position? Sometimes I'll lay back and feel this crunch along my spine. Not painful at all, just feels like the spine is decompressing.
Thats pretty normal if you haven't done a lot of back stretching yet or any back workouts for a day or two. Its just fluid between joints like in your knuckles.

rip BB bench

Jokes on you I use my right while my left holds my phone. I also cum on the screen and wash my phone after.

>that works out as...
is that by using a 1rm calculator? would that not be based on using a barbell rather than dumbbells?

ab solutely based

230
I've done 100x5 before but I lift at home and was using pic related. I didn't have enough 25s and 10s so I used 45s and I felt so God damn retarded. I felt like I was going to die by one of these sliding off and cracking my skull

That's why I have threaded adjustable dumb bells.

Are your threaded ones Olympic sized? I have a decent amount of Olympic plates I don't want to get the 1 inch holed plates. When I get more money I'll probably buy those powerblocks.

Mine are the one inch diameter ones. The handles weigh about 4 pounds. They're cheap and do the job. If I had a barbell set up I could see some use out of being able to switch weights back and forth but I'm only benching 118 all together with my dumb bells. I've had clip weights back in high school and when I got to failure and my form was deteriorating I was always worried about losing the weights off the handles so when I got back into lifting a couple of years ago I opted for the threaded handles. The main thing is the the weights don't move which is peace of mind and allows me to focus on my intensity instead of second guessing whether on not I'm going to brain myself.

I initially was thinking you meant 60kg per arm and was thinking that it was decent. But now I'm not sure if you mean 30kg on each arm.
If 60kg on each arm, then good, very good.
If 30kg per arm, then that's worse than my 70kg lanklet 16 year old little brother. Good for starting out though. You'll improve a lot if you keep doing it. Mentioning how many reps you're doing it for is also kinda relevant.

155-158lbs

can do 100lb for a few reps, usually crank out 80s or 90s for sets.

How many rep is your little bro making ?

His max is 30kg for 8 reps.

Is that papa johns?

88kg

4x6 50kg incline

>If 30kg per arm, then that's worse than my 70kg lanklet 16 year old little brother. Good for starting out though
Yeah nah, i dont believe you. I see guys much bigger than me not even doing 30kg on each arm. In fact i never really see anyone going over 35kg ,There's no way your skinny 16 year old brother is doing that.

I'm doing 10 reps.

190 6'1"
75 5x5 on inclines

>doing DB bench for less than 8 reps
Goodbye, rotator cuff.

>Dumbell work is vastly superior to barbell
>vastly
lmfao

Are you kidding me? Is this a joke? The big guys at my gym, including myself, can all do 50kg for reps. The strongish people do 40kg. My little brother does 30kg.
This is just cope on another level. Admit it, you're a weak faggot. I might even record him later if he's ok with it cos its chest today and I'm taking him along.
To be fair, this is both funny and sad. I was doing 30kgs after less than a month of lifting as well.

I also did 42kg max on DB with my 115kg bench on BB.
The thing with Dumbbell bench is, that is a lot in your mind.
Your psychology is really blocking you.

Holy cope.

I have a 200 lb set like that, but the handles are actually a little over an inch thick. So I bought some 1.25 lb micro plates (cap barbell brand I think) and they don't fit. I still use them for weighted chins so they're not useless, but it's kind of annoying. Anybody know where to get extra plates for this size?
I guess I'll post db bench stats too
155 lbs bodyweight
70 lbs dumbbells for 5 reps. I'm doing reverse pyramid so hopefully I'll get to 6 reps today and up the weight next time. I do kind of a raised floor press, I don't have an actual bench.

I will begin adding DB incline press to my routine in honor and recognition of this post

140 lbs
70 for 3

There's no cope. 30kg on each arm is equivelent to 80kg bench press for reps. If you think that's beginner level then you're deluded.

wider range of motion

Never mind the geartards and larpers. They get snapped up and die while you're still making gains.

185 pounds body weight
120pd dbs 3x8

Would go heavier but that’s as heavy as my gym goes.

I'm genuinely just starting to believe most people here just outright lie for their egos sake.

75,3 kg
34kg each hand for 8 reps, then drop down to 32 for 2 sets of 8

My kid brother did that when he was 13

good for him!

Ok, this is official. I will film with little lanklet brother benching 30kg dumbbells for reps and then post it so you can face the reality of being a weak faggot.

Also, heres a couple of videos I found on youtube:
