You tel me, OP.

Is 5'11 manlet status?

Attached: 1557243323401.png (840x854, 412K)

I think it's safe to say he won't get far if he can't bench 30kg for 5 reps without help

I'm a 6inch wrist 5'5" manlet, but I was never that weak

Anyone shorter than me is a manlet, so yes.

If he is dyel lifting just the bar for reps on his first time is fine. You have to accept some people are weak as shit because they have literally done nothing to improve their strength their entire life. Don’t shit on your friend, being weak isn’t shameful but remaining weak is

Weakness is his least concern.

Everybody's gotta start somewhere user

lmao, i was a fatty allergic to gym like vampire to garlic, and I benched 25kg my first time

>>tell him it has no point unless he puts some weight on it
it's called progressive overload, ding dong
everyone starts somewhere.
This was his intro to one of the big lifts, and you've scared him away, probably delaying his progress for AT LEAST 5 years.

You are an autistic gains goblin who wanted to act tough (in front of who? Your friend? well he offically hates gym culture now, so he doesn't care about your lifts. A message board? You just come off as an insecure meme-spouting idiot that's trying to hard to get (You)s)

SHOO

if you can't lift more than the bar, you're better of learning how to apply make up and do your hair.

Not him, but when I was 20 I couldn’t bench. Anything. I started doing push-ups on my knees for 3x5 and would wake up with DOMS the next day. My entire life until that point was sedentary, just playing video games and sleeping, living the NEET life. That type of weakness exists.

Hows your progress now?

This thread is now weaklings who started benching with an empty bar. How much do you bench now?

50kg/110lbs for me after couple of months of training.

185 lbs. 3x5, going for 190 tomorrow. I can also do ~40 strict pushups without sacrificing form too much. It’s not much, but it’s an improvement I’ll take.

Not the worst. Once you hit 1 plate for reps it gets easier. Got a projection?

That's more than the average man can do

shoo shoo gains goblin

You are a fag, let the dude warm up with the bar and put on a little weight after he has warmed up. Why are you even making him lift weights that you perfecrly know he can't lift, what an arrogan zoomer retarded inbred little shit you are, such an awful egocentrical friend.

The point is, he doesnt even want to improve, he just wants girls to notice him, he doesnt care about putting weight on the bar

Make it clear to him that he won't ever get bigger without first getting stronger

Yea, cause normies believe in science and not memes.

Get him on SS+GOMAD.

told him a million times, all he cares about is "having a good shaped muscles" and girls noticing him. He does not want to get stronger

The average man isn’t the standard.

lmfao weaklings all around here... I benched 40 kg for 5 reps on my first ever set without a spotter.

Did your mom call you Muscles afterwards?

>once you hit 1 plate for reps it gets easier
extreme lie. I have been stuck on 72.5 kg for 5 reps for months.

i did 50 now give me a rimjob

is that impressive? I'm skinny as fucking fuck and did that too.

my mom doesn't give a shit about what I do in the gym

eat better then, jesus christ that's slow

I went from 40-80 in 2 months, soon 2pl8 and I've been going at it for less than 6 months

I agree. But it matters to the guy who went from being as strong as a 12 year old boy to being stronger than the average adult male

I started with 105lbs two months ago and now I'm at 165

I have no clue what my staring bench was, but I started at empty bar and added 2kg per week. I was definitely a lanklet, but I made progress and didn't stall until about 80kg. I don't think there's anything wrong with him starting at a low weight.

You do have to convince him, though, that strength and hypertrophy are related. The first year or so of strength gains is primarily improving your CNS and muscle fiber recruitment. If he isn't actually using his muscle fibers, he'll never make them bigger.

There's a point you reach where noob gains don't cut it any more. The solution is just to push harder. I plateaud my big 4 at like 90/180/255/345 for almost 5 months. One day I just said "fuck it, I'm squatting 265" and I did it 5x5. It sounds weird but you actually just have to push harder. From here on out, every lift you do will require you to push really fucking hard.

why would you start him off with weight on the bar? are you trying to hurt your friends confidence?

Shoo shoo gains goblin

It’s a lot mindset. You can definitely psych yourself out to not being able to lift the weight. I’m stuck at 220 1rm for bench I might try 225 cause it’s 2 plates looks smaller to trick myself into getting 2 reps. I’m at 275x2 for squat now it’s been increasing every week again now that I’m telling myself it wasn’t that hard last time

if i get like 3-4 reps on the next weight, do i get stronger? and should use that weight till i get proper sets?

Oh well, since you did it then everyone can definitely do it it. You're the proof. Well done you. Congratulations.

That's because your body was accustomed to dealing with excess weight you fat cunt

I could barely bench the bar when I started. At 170 for reps now. Not strong by any means, but it's a big difference and I'm definitely in normie gym bro territory now.

>Being a gigantic gymrat douche instead of a helpful bro to your friend
What did you think? That we would say how cool you were? Lmao retarded faggot

Congratulations. No one gives a fuck.

SHOO SHOO GAINS GOBLIN!

Wow, it's almost as if when you weigh more you can lift more.

SHOO SHOO GAINS GOBLIN!

If you weren't actually a dyel and you looked like you lifted he'd actually listen to your advice on doing 5x5

I literally benched 50-60kg for reps the first time at 17
I had been doing sports and fucking around with machines though

You get stronger if you either go up in weight or reps, I would pick a program and see what the progression is. For example you might do 5 reps for 5 sets of a certain weight then next week try for 5 pounds more, if you only get 5 sets of 4 reps then try for 5x5 then up weight. Start low and work your way up.

He's a retard but we all were when we started. Many still are. Make him realize that prioritizing strength will help him on the long run and that he can't get in shape lifting babyweight. Once he's hooked to hitting PRs, you can try and change his philosophy on lifting reasons

>plateauing with that kind of weight
Glad I'll never k ow what it feels like. Literally nightmare fuel

Fattys have more mass

>won't ever get bigger without first getting stronger
Okay but there are more ways to get stronger than DUHHH MO WEIGHT ON DA BAR FIVE REPS MAXIMUM

SHOO SHOO GAINS GOBLIN!

all these retards replying. yes it would do nothing if he doesn't put weight on it, why do you think the bars weight is not counted in one rep maxes. it literally does not count. if he wants to get stronger he needs to find a lighter bar and put weight on that to start out

>why do you think the bars weight is not counted in one rep maxes.
Get a load of this retard

hahaha.. you thought you hit that 2pl8 bench didn't you champ? sorry to burst your bubble LOL..

Sure but five reps is a pretty decent middle ground between pure power(1 rep) and pure muscular endurance(super high reps)

You’re never gonna make it for ridiculing beginners sad cunt. Maybe he’d give it more of any kind of real effort if you looked any good.

You're a manlet if being short is the first thing people notice about you (assuming you're not dressed like a freak or something). So probably 5'6 and below is manlet territory. If you're on Jow Forums anyone below 6' is a manlet though

Shoo shoo gains goblin

Idk, be nice to him and give him genuine advice instead of talking down. We've all been there. Also I would start the other way around with lower weight and then slowly stack up. Empty bar -> light weight he can do his 8-12 reps with -> 5 rep weight

SHOO SHOO GAINS GOBLIN!

Also based and bloomerpilled post

Shoo shoo gains goblin

Just have him look at the bigger guys when they bench and tell him to look at the weight. Tell him if he is weaker than them he will also be smaller than them. If he doesn't get that then fuck him, let him make his own experiences

Shoo shoo gains goblin

>>tell him it has no point unless he puts some weight on it
this so much, its like people counting the bar when saying they can bench 2pl8
might as well do reverse inverted bench presses at home with no bar
