Health. Also, there's a very interesting paper called the carbohydrate-insulin model of obesity. Calories matter, but macros *might* determine what you specifically lose or gain.
I don't understand that picture.
Bears are among the animals with the best sense of smell, apples probably smell good/interesting.
>they can smell though solid ice

You're absolutely right. A person who eats nothing but 2000 kcals of soda, donuts, and McDonald's will have the same body as someone who eats whole grains, vegetables, and lean meat.
But in all seriousness the body process different nutrients differently. Many CICO spergs don't realize that what you eat and when you eat will effect your calories out.
fasting IS cico. it's the most extreme form of it, and it fucking works. you're just too weak-willed to pull it off.
Not him but this is clearly a zoo and he's been fed apples before. Besides, bears eat anything
>Thinking ice can't be porous, allowing smells to travel through it.
This is my before and after of fasting. I’m not saying it’s magic but also saying maybe it’s a tad more complicated than just being CICO but also like it’s an easier way to do CICO.
And this is me today.
How is fasting not cico?
Unless you deny ketosis.
The only "magic" part of fasting is the autophagy and claims of more lean muscle retention during fasting periods
Also hormone control which tells your body how to process things.
They actually can though. Polar bears olefactory sensors are one of the wonders of the natural world.

where did people get some sort of link between autophagy and fasting from? I've literally only ever seen it on Jow Forums, its not really focused on by people who research time restricted feeding or intermittent fasting in the lab
There are a few studies at support the idea but that’s only with long term fasting. IF doesn’t have you fasting long enough to have any significant autophagy happen.
but like what aspect of autophagy? It's just intracellular digestion to restore nutrient availability
>to have any significant autophagy happen
it's happening all the time under normal conditions
I forgot how to do the shrug emoji.
>Autophagy is the body’s way of cleaning out damaged cells, in order to regenerate newer, healthier cells, according to Priya Khorana, PhD, in nutrition education from Columbia University.
>“Fasting is [the] most effective way Trusted Source to trigger autophagy,” explains Petre.
Are we talking about the same topic? I'm confused.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
how long did it take in total from fstty to today?
My over all journey started a year and a half ago. In my first picture it took about 2 months to get rid of the fat.
Ketogenic diets have shown improved brain performance like increased focus over longer periods of time. It's one of the benefits of being in ketosis and the brain just runs better on ketones. Reduced cravings and anxiety are also part of the benefits.
Not everyone is such a fatfuck that they need to eat zero calories to see results.
I dont believe you
I don't believe you don't believe him.
>Fasting is CICO.
No it isn't.
>Studies of eating a single meal per day18 found significantly more fat loss, compared to eating three meals per day, despite the same caloric intake.

I did SS+GOMAD for 6 month and Ive been folowing bvegan diet with lot of protein supplements. >picrelated
I found the article you got that from and these people clearly haven't taken cell bio (yes, I'm aware they have unrelated degrees like cardiology and education). It's like they're taking a normal cellular process e.g. autophagy, mitosis, proteolysis, whatever, and attributing some sort of weird benefit to it. Autophagy isn't like some whole body process
If you read the actual study its essentially a statistical anomaly; there was a difference between the groups, but neither were different from baseline. It's really not a convincing data set and they even attempt to attribute it to caloric differences between the meals

Practically everyone here and on the media understands autophagy as pic related. Even the dictionary definition is similar to all three:
>Consumption of the body’s own tissue as a metabolic process occurring in starvation and certain diseases.
>‘the process of starvation-induced autophagy was recently the focus of extensive research’
>Destruction of damaged or redundant cellular components occurring in vacuoles within the cell.
Don't know where you got a different meaning from.
