For example, if you lifted consistently for 2-3 years, were very muscular, then stopped for 10 years and tried to get to that point again, would it be easier, harder, or the same as when you started originally? (Let's assume that test production is the same as when you started and not accounting for more efficient methods of training you acquired over 2-3 years of experience)

yes your muscle cells actually have multiple nuclei and when they grow they take in more nuclei from surrounding satellite cells to control the larger area. When your muscles shrink they don't get rid of the extra nuclei which makes it much easier to put on muscle the second time around

Yes, it would be much easier. This is because muscle cells, unlike other cells, have several nuclei. The number of those nuclei increases as your muscle cells enlarge due to hypertrophy, but if you stop training those extra nuclei do not disappear, making it easier to gain extra muscle the second time around. Additional capillaries that have formed will also still be around, and your tendons will still be stronger and your bone density higher than for someone that hasn’t trained before. Plus of course you already know the routine, know hoe to train and be consistent, which will massively help as well compared to when you first started. You can probably get back those 2-3 years of gains in 6-12 months depending on how physically active you had been in those 10 years.
A friend of mine who hasn’t trained for a good 4 years or so but used to be jacked is getting back in over the last few months, its absolutely insane how quickly he is regaining that muscle, he makes 6 months of gains in 2 months. Just get going bro, you will look way better again in no time.
