odd because alcohol has carbs which keep your blood sugar levels high and reduces your insulin sensitivity. look around for skinny type 2 diabetics. notice how they are all alcoholics.
youre comparing people who have 1-2 drinks per day to people who have 10
Probably because more social people tend to drink more and are less stressed
I see no citations to this picture...
because its fake news
alcohol is terrible for insulin sensitivity
what's your point, trumper?
>alcohol has carbs
Fuck your kike juice and its chemically induced depression
Caffeine is all I need
moderate drinkers exhibit less depression than abstainers
Why do people not understand what moderate means?
I know so many retards that get plastered daily that think they're going to outlive me by 40 years.
>Why do people not understand what moderate means?
What does moderate mean?
i know so many people who think alcohol is bad in general and dont distinguish between binging and having 2 drinks.
This.
When scientific studies talk about moderate alcohol consumption it roughly translates into ”1-2 glasses of red wine every other day” not a 12 pack of pabst blue ribbon every night
it's 1-2 drinks (of any alcohol) EVERY day in most, but there are some where it's up to 3.
No its not
Nearly all health benefits of alcohol have been attributed to wine and wine only
Spirits and Beer have no positive effects whatsoever besides tasting good
Keep in mind that "moderate consumption" means having one unit (12 g) of alcohol a day, or 15 cl of wine, 33 cl of beer (5%), or 4 cl of spirits. This data also only applies to people over 40 y.o. Before that alcohol either has no effect, or is directly detrimental to long-term health.
lmao. the wine myth is from the 90s. ethanol itself is what protects you from heart disease.
correlation does not mean causation. I'm betting my left nut on the fact that people that do "moderate drinking" do so at social gatherings, indicating a better adjusted person in general, which may or may not mean the following:
>has a social circle of friends
>probably has a job
>exhibit enough self-control to not go overboard with alcohol
just these three reasons alone should reduce stress considerably. Does that lengthen life-span? oh fuck, color me surprised! It's not the alcohol, alcohol is literal poison. Of course, 1-2 drinks once in a while won't do anything at all, but it definitely does not do any good either, at least to your body.
the tell is that people who metabolize alcohol quickly dont get the heart benefits that people who metabolize it at a slower pace do.
people dont go to social gatherings every night and drink. moderate drinking means drinking about 7-14 drinks per week. someone who drinks at social events only is a social drinker.
> but it definitely does not do any good either, at least to your body.
it does demonstrable good to your heart at low doses, why is this so hard to accept? even the shitty meta-analysis last year that claimed NO ALCOHOL SAFE found that. cant you live a world of nuance, where things can have pros and cons instead of just being wholly good or bad?
>moderate drinking means drinking about 7-14 drinks per week.
no fren, that's the upper limit. it can mean anything below that too, so 1-2 drinks a couple days a week (say fri, sat) is also moderate drinking.
>even the shitty meta-analysis last year that claimed NO ALCOHOL SAFE found that.
after doing much research on my own, I found studies are very hard to be reliable, specially on these matters. Why? Alcohol is an industry that moves billions of dollars a year. Watch any netflix show, movie, whatever. Notice how alcohol is ALWAYS present. Alcohol to wind down after a hard day's work, alcohol for going out, alcohol to forget your sorrows, alcohol before sex. I don't deny this happen in real life, of course, but the fact that it's being pushed 24/7 is what makes me doubt these studies. Remember when cigarettes were thought as safe? They tried to push that shit for decades. Now they're back in full force in every show.
now, this is coming from someone who is definitely not a straight-edge sober person, but I don't kid myself, nothing that makes disturbs deep sleep even at "moderate drinking" doses can be healthy for you. Ethanol is metabolized into acetaldehyde and acetate, both are toxic to the body. Can you get by? of course, we get bombarded with toxins all day long, but don't think for a second that it's "healthy" just because it doesn't do any significant, immediate harm. it's not an avocado or a steak. That's what I mean.
Just my opinion after decades of observation but: possibly the thing that alcohol does that seems to produce some protection from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is it is hepato toxic. It impairs the ability to handle Vit K which is necessary for platelets and clotting. Which, according to the current fantasies clotting is what accelerates the intima damage converting to an atherosclerotic plaque. It has been well known for decades that alcoholics don’t get atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This is probably the mechanism. So do drunks live long3er? No. Of course not. They die prematurely from the diseases of drunks. Gastro esophageal varies, liver failure, a list of things. Is there a “moderate” effect from “moderate” drinking? Anytime there are a number of studies with conflicting results the answer is usually “No”.
Not him. This is common knowledge you troglodyte

Lol the mental gymnastics from the pseudointellects on this site never fail to amaze me.
Please an hero to rid us all of your baseless superiority complex, faggot.
Beer=alcohol
Obligatory, not that dude, but it's true. The markup on beer is absurd when all alcohol is an acquired taste. Why would you drink a tallboy for $4-8 when you can get a plastic litre bottle of the cheapest vodka for that price. After two drinks, you can't even taste anything anymore.
This picture is misleading, moderate drinkers DO NOT live longer than non-drinkers if you use data that isn't shit.
The reason is that people who get serious problems from drinking will stop because otherwise they will die, and so when they get the surrey they put non-drinker even though they have drank 20 beers a day for the last 30 years up until now and die shortly after which skews the data.
nah, even controlling for this bs theory they live longer.
reuters.com
>Compared with people who never had a drop of alcohol, light to moderate drinkers were more than 20 percent less likely to die early of any cause, or of heart disease in particular, the study found.
>To exclude `sick quitters,’ the current study left out people who died in the first two years of follow-up. To avoid `abstainer bias,’ researchers created separate categories for adults who never drank at all and for ex-drinkers.
>not drinking coffe exclusively harvested by bolivian guerillas
not very based
Can't chug vodka, though
Chugging beer is a nice feeling
What is considered a moderate amount of booze?
the hopped jew vs vodka(literally water)
choice is clear
If only I could manage to do it moderately
One drink a night two or three times a week, ideally something with low to no carbs like a glass of wine, martini, whiskey or scotch on the rocks. Drinking to get drunk occasionally.
I for one enjoy having intact stomach and intestinal linings. But you do you buddy
but it does?
the key thing that people overlook is alcohol is only ok in MODERATE doses which is 2 normal, 12 ounce beers a day MAX - and that's really not much at all. if you're drinking high alcohol craft beers then those two are really more like three or four. add to that many bars, especially craft beer bars, are now serving beers in larger and larger servings than a standard pint, sometimes 25 or even 32 ounces. it's REALLY easy to do some mental gymnastics and convince yourself you drink in "moderation" because you had two 25 ounce mugs of a 9% beer.
>t. alcoholic
this is a good article so ill highlight his main point: the reason you're so fat from drinking is actually because of the pizza you ate while you were drinking. your body wants to burn off the alcohol asap so that pizza and all the lard on it gets stored as fat easier.
ive found some success not getting as fat from drinking by also fasting. the alcohol hits you harder and you don't have food going straight to your gut and thighs. of course, this takes a lot of self-restraint that a lot of people don't have, so if you're one of those people it might be best to give it up entirely if you're trying to get Jow Forums
this is a new study so i'll include the references if any anons want to read

not entirely surprising considering alcohol is literal poison and is irritating to every tissue in your body.
Alcohol itself does not have carbs because alcohol, itself, is its own macronutrient. Beer has a few carbs because of how it’s made.
Try this on for size for drunk talk
Correct response. The only people that classify alcohol as a carb are the FDA. They also classify pizza as a vegetable (due to corporate lobbying in congress, but still).
source on that trumper?
>alcohol has carbs
lmao
god himself drank lots of wine. ofc its good for you
no, it's 3-14 drinks per week with no binging (>4 drinks in a sitting for the avg man).
That's an odd choice of insult, considering the President is a teetotaler.
brainlet
Due to his cocaine habit though. Uppers and downers don't mix well.
No it's not, it's well known that moderate alcohol intake can help blood sugars in diabetics, this has been known for fucking forever
nuts, huh? just finished a bottle of lovely isles whisky. nice and peaty.
This is all so tiresome. Everything you eat is dangerous and unhealthy oh but wait you're actually destroying your body if you don't take it in moderation. Jesus christ why is it so hard to get a clear answer when it comes to nutrition.
Alcohol does not have carbs it is its own macronutrient, brainlet
