I don't like the word "metabolism", there's way too much misinformation and mom science associated with that word. But no, your BMR will not be affected from starting with a low calorie diet, you need as many calories as you need and your body isn't going to suddenly decide it can run a little more efficiently because you aren't eating at a surplus, your body runs reasonably efficiently at all times, not just when you're in a caloric deficit.

The following are additional metrics with real meaning.
If your waist circumference is more than half your height, you are with 100% certainty FAT.
If your Adjusted Fat Free Mass Index is less than 20 you, with 100% certainty have too little muscle.
If your Body Shape Index is greater than 0.077, your density is too low. You need more muscle and/or less fat.
If your waist circumference divided by your hip circumference is greater than 0.9 your are probably overweight. But if your BMI or Corpulence Index and your waist-height ratio are 'healthy' and waist-hip ratio is still 'overweight' then you need more muscle.

I've been getting into it, 3 times a week. Everything I've seen says to mostly stay away from machines and do compound movements, so I've been sticking with deadlifts, squats, bench, power cleans.

I also started incorporating rows, pulldowns and ab roll outs in my warmup since I'm finding it hard to isolate those.

Drank a glass of almond milk, two scoops of whey isolate, two tbsp of peanut butter (while eating two myself because I'm an idiot).

ran a 15 kilometer race today in really heavy offtrail uphill and muddy terrain, it was a really hard race where i had to run in kneedeep water and in swamps and forest. i find asian food tends to be the "best" fast food if you order something sensible. places like wagamama (british chain i believe but i'm sure you have a close equivalent in your country) practically everything on the menu is pretty easy to fit in to your cut.
that having been said, most fast food places do something decent, e.g. mcdonald's garlic mayo chicken wrap is only 480 kcal.
