/UNPLUG/ reclaim your life

A thread to focus on becoming more productive and wasting less time mindlessly surfing the internet. The internet should be used as a tool to better our lives rather than serve as a source of mindless distraction and shallow entertainment.

Benefits of unplugging
>sense of fulfilment
>less time wasted
>increased productivity
>better mood
>better relationships
>focused mindset
Don't become a slave to the (((electric menace)))

Tell me how to unplug

>Make yourself a list of things you need/want to get done and do those instead
>give yourself a daily time limit
>wanna spank your monkey? Use your imagination.

Got a ton of books that I want to read but only on digital pdfs. Any resources for finding cheap physical copies of obscure titles, like pic related?

>At night I use flux to make my monitor grayscale
>it makes the catalog really boring to look through when there aren't any flashy colors

Try it and see if it works for you, too

>just introduced my grandma to /unplug/
She got mad and started wheezing. Now my family kicked me out of the hospital and I'm sitting out here in the cold
What do? I forgot to bring the free apple sauce with me

Great idea

How do you make it timed?
I can add gray scale but it makes it gray NOW in the morning

> still posting on fourthstation

Library

Plan on getting my library card tomorrow, which will hopefully lead to me spending less time doing fuck all online.
Anyone have any recs? I’m going to get Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and probably Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy but don’t really know what else.

dropping in to say i might try this for a week. no phone. no computer. nothing. this won't be a problem for me as i have no job, no family, no friends, no gf, and nobody who calls me anyway.

computer is my biggest distraction machine. distraction from the reality that i exist without a tribe, a group, or anyone who is thinking of me at any given time; alone in a world that would not even register if i jumped off a bridge and ended it.

i found out today if you tell your psych that you're thinking of offing yourself they file a 5150 on you and you're life is basically ruined from there on out, employment, security clearance, they might as well have killed me. i hate myself anons, and it's too ingrained to change that.

Based. Just set my laptop and phone to gray-scale. Thanks man

Therapy is bullshit user.

Dune (only the Frank Herbert books)
The Black Company saga
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
The Black Prism Series
Metamorphosis
My Bondage and My Freedom
Orson Scott Card's Homecoming saga
The Nightlands
If You Can Breathe, You Can Meditate
Enders Game
The Engineer trilogy (Devices and Desires)
None Braver
multiple copies of The Tao Te Ching by different translators.
The Redwall series
the Abhorsen trilogy and related short stories and side novels. (book two is the best.)
Famous reiligious texts. (listening to the audiobook of the Quran as someone that dislikes Islam helped me to verbalise what it is that I hate about authoritarianism.)
The Goblin Corps
The Wizard of Earthsea.

I think it's pretty obvious what my taste in literature is. If any of these looks interesting to you, then I recommend all of them. (Plus Aaron Dembski-Bowden's Nightlord trilogy if you like 40K.)

therapy is the only way i have anyone to talk to. sad but true. the blackpill is that nobody really cares you, this is why we have a huge market paying strangers to care and calling it therapy. even your family doesn't care.

It’s not too ingrained. You don’t have to be anything you were, just have to accept that you don’t have to be a lot of things that you think you ought to. But you’ll need to accomplish something to get some self esteem. Even something really little, like cooking a good breakfast. Pls, rember.

purposefully make a list & collect all of the information you want to get through during the day/week/month etc (this includes entertainment)
set a period of the day where you keep the internet off & only work through your established goals.
turn off the wifi, unplug your modem & lock it in your car if you have to. do whatever it takes to get rid of the temptation to 'just check something real quick'
don't worry user, the hypoxia is giving her a better mindset already

Genuinely sorry to hear that user, I hope things in your life improve as soon as possible. Have faith and keep striving forward, We're all gonna make it brah

Damn I am the phone right now.
Can some user post the 7 day dopamine fast pic?

>The Black Company saga
Recently went through a breakup and just about the only entertainment I can stomach right now is books. I'll finally give TBC a shot after ignoring it for years.

>focus on becoming more productive
>wasting less time
I agree with the benefits of unplugging, but it sounds like somebody needs to take the blind pill.

My life changed drastically after I followed this. Feeling bored was really weird to begin with since I was so used to just browse my phone while waiting.
