Got real out of shape after a year and a half of a shitty college diet and excessive alcohol habits. Been grinding real hard the past few months, slow and steady...
Awesome job dude, most people get fat and wanna bitch about it but don’t do shit and stay that way till they die. If I was you I’d focus on putting on muscle at this point but understand wanting to stay lean. You should eat at a slight deficit of like 300-500cals but keep protein intake real high at least a gram per pound of body weight and just lift real heavy 5x a week. Good luck!
You’re still learning even years into the lifting journey. Things I wish I knew at the start
-Form > Weight
Lifting heavier and heavier weights feels good when you’re just starting out because it gives you a sense of progress but so many people neglect good form and then plateau after they hit a certain number of pounds or get badly injured because they were too stubborn to use less weight and progress slower with perfect form
-Mind muscle connection
Kinda bouncing off the last one just make sure you really feel whatever muscle you’re working. Do controlled clean reps that make you feel the burn and give you a huge pump in the muscle you’re working. There’s no point in doing dumbbell rows jerking half your body in the opposite direction to get it up or swinging your back and hips on every rep of curls.
-Diet
Most important aspect of looking good and progressing right up there with lifting. Too long to explain, just research
-Consistency
Go 4-5 days a week and don’t take weeks at a time off. A day or two every now and then isn’t gonna kill you but taking Thanksgiving break off or two weeks before finals because you “don’t have enough time” really does set you back, and for me personally if I take more than 4 or 5 days off I get into that whole “I’ll just start where I left off next week” mindset. Don’t cheat yourself.
But yeah anyways sorry for the rant I just wish someone had hammered into my head clean and consistent lifting so I wouldn’t have wasted time going to the gym on and off and dicking around

This is gonna come across mean and not trying to be harsh but if someone doesn’t say it you won’t fix whatever’s wrong. Yeah that’s absolutely terrible progress, those pictures look like they could’ve been taken the same day. What have you even been doing? Do you follow a consistent diet where you at least track ballpark range calories or lift 3x or more a week? Don’t let my comment discourage you, use the realization of you not progressing as rage fuel or motivation and start researching stuff because you really haven’t changed. I would’ve started wondering where my gains were way earlier than almost 2 years in. You clearly have patience though, fix it up and good luck brother.

Work harder. The least few reps need to burn. Mind muscle connection is real. Form is king, full rang of motion. Don't ego lift. Eat and sleep good. If all of that fails then get your T checked.
